The reason Eastern European countries want to join NATO is purely down to Russia continuing to interfere in their affairs. Its not fair really to just deny Ukraine membership of NATO or the EU, as this war is entirely Russias doing.

Since Ukraine became independent, Russia has poisoned presidents, rigged elections, annexed Crimea, armed and supported separatists for 8+ years. If they had just left Ukraine alone none of this would be happening.

Putin is a paranoid despot who thinks NATO is going to one day invade Russia, which is of course ridiculous. He has deliberately interfered in the West by supporting things like Brexit and targetting the US elections through propaganda bots. HE has bought this on himself

Unfortunately you are repeating the crap about Putin affecting Brexit. He didn’t , and those that voted leave did so effectively for independence, something that the Putins of this world and the bureaucracy in Brussels don’t and never will really understand……

Ah yes Arran Banks is definitely not a Russian asset and Russian bots definitely didn't spam pro-Brexit propaganda across all social medias. Oh and splitting Britain from Europe is definitely not a key goal of Dugin's Foundation of Politics (1997) which all of Russia's foreign policy is based on.

What's done is done but don't try and pretend Russia didn't have an influence.

I find it amazing that the Ukraine army, from what I've read, was pretty much in shambles about 8 years ago. And with lots of training, $$$, and other military aid, they are essentially bringing their A-game to what is/was ostensibly one of the top three super-power armies in the world. Is this a correct assessment?

Russia had no influence. Britain has not ‘split’ from Europe, we still trade with them and as has been shown, militarily and politically against Russia we are still joined at the hip, via NATO, G7 etc. If you want to have a go at anyone doing Russia’s bidding have a word with the now mute Angela Merkel…..

They literally funded and supported the chief instigators but whatever lol I'm not saying Brexit was rigged or anything like that, but its literally undeniable that it was beneficial to Russia.

This is Putin’s war, however, could Zelenskyy not have explored further diplomacy before, for example, completely taking joining NATO completely off the table before going back on that only recently? He comes across as a poor leader to me, and perhaps not best placed to act in the best interest for the people of Ukraine when this crisis occurred.

Ultimately, if a deal is reached between Ukraine and Russia, then you could suggest that a deal could have been reached before the death and destruction of thousands of innocent people and their homes. We know how barbaric Putin is, but I don’t think history will treat Zelenskyy kindly either.
I dont think history will treat this post kindly.

What you are suggesting only makes sense in a world where Putin is honorable and to be trusted, and has not literally lied over and over again over the past 10 years breaking treaties and accords like candy.

Zelensky came into office in 2019 on the campaign promise of trying to end the war with Russia, which obviously shows good (and likely naive) faith in trying to avoid all this murder/destruction.

That’s not confirmation though, is it? I mean look at when train services are messed up here, everyone knows it, it’s obvious. If this has happened it should be really easy to see; loads of trains will be backed up, services will be announced cancelled and so on. I think it’s incumbent on those saying this to prove it, to be honest.
I was looking at a map the other day of the russian advance. One thing I noticed was that there was almost no advance from Belarus which I thought odd given there were so many troops stationed there.
Maybe the train disruption could be part of the reason?
