I dono. And don't get me worn i know ital's a war. But usually when leaders make a power grab like that an din that way at war or not. They tend to keep it that way after the fact.

But then again I don't think there will be an after the fact for him after all this.

Not saying I'm happy about that.
I looked through the banned parties list and while I agree with banning two of the parties which were 100% linked to Russia, banning some of the smaller left-wing ones I don't agree with at all.

The US provided intelligence and a fair bit of equipment including the then state-of-the-art STINGER man pad, secure comms units and many other stuff.

With regards to the French and their exocets, they did do some work although it was more clandestine rather than overt. On the face of it, they did nothing...

... but they helped MI6 to 'purchase' most weapons on the market and delayed the delivery of others to neighbours of Argentina. This stopped the market.

After the war, the British bought missiles were returned to France - well on paper as they'd never left. The didn't want to be seen to be involved, but they were.

The Argentinians did themselves over the most though by accepting Soviet intelligence, which the US did not take kindly to.
This too

"Excuse me. I had a difference to settle with the Iron Lady. That Thatcher, what an impossible woman!" the president [François Mitterrand] said as he arrived, more than 45 minutes late, on May 7 1982. "With her four nuclear submarines in the south Atlantic, she's threatening to unleash an atomic weapon against Argentina if I don't provide her with the secret codes that will make the missiles we sold the Argentinians deaf and blind." He reminded Mr Magoudi that on May 4 an Exocet missile had struck HMS Sheffield. "To make matters worse, it was fired from a Super-Etendard jet," he said. "All the matériel was French!"

In words that the psychoanalyst has sworn to the publisher, Meren Sell, are genuine, the president continued: "She's livid. She blames me personally for this new Trafalgar ... I was obliged to give in. She's got them now, the codes."

A mate of mine was an army captain in the Falklands, mentioned in dispatches, like many others he doesn’t speak about it……

I do.

One of our smallest parties here (barely made parliament at ~4% votes) has been the most vocal pro-Russia ones, and are very "left" aligned. Supposedly.

I haven't checked them here though, just saying...

So, Russia can invite Belarus to intervene, support and provide jumping off points, recruit Libyans or whoever to take part, have Chechens roaming around, putting nuclear weapons in Belarus, but we dare not allow a few UK soldiers to help Ukraine. We don’t deserve our freedom, we are already cowering under the threat of Putin. Ffs, tell him to do one, push support into Ukraine, and if he doesn’t like it then tough…..

I was told sommet about that back then. No details, obvs, but the gist was to do with the delivery codes or "post sale" support. Put diesel in a petrol engine basically.
Yup. The French didn't want to lose face and impact on future exports, but they couldn't weaken a powerful European ally.

The art of politics and diplomacy is far from an easy one. People laugh at Yes Minister and all the charades, yet it's more truthful than many will ever admit.*

*Less the comedy and more the dark arts.

Right now in this current situation and using Bulgaria as an example (for obvious personal reasons lol ) and on the topic of charades - we've sent rations to Ukraine currently.

I mean, half a billion in RPG's and ammo has been misplaced it would seem, or sent to the Romanian and Polish borders, but you know, we've only sent food, on paper. Obviously no one can confirm or deny any of this. We're just doing our part for the EU, etc....

Amuses me a bit, as I feel it's like the prison TV trope - cake with the nail file to break the bars in it lol A few cans of food and under them - RPG's and ammo.
