I would end this ludicrous red tape that "they will defend every inch of NATO territory". If the shoe was on the other foot and THIS was NATO territory, what's the consequence then? Are we still deterred by the nuclear threat?

If it was NATO territory then NATO nations would be required to get involved. He hasn’t hit a NATO country as he doesn’t want that kind of war. i.e Russia being bombed off the face of the Earth and probably many other countries facing the same end.

Just watching the news on Sky about today's atrocities. It's really unforgivable that we "the west" are letting this continue. The horrors of Mariupol is sickening. I think these leaders have to stop sitting in the stands watching
while sitting on their hands, stop [Poor language removed]-footing around, stop beating about the bush, and once and for all grow a pair. How many people have to die needlessly before they say enough is enough?

You gonna go fight in the war you're proposing there? Lots of people happy to call for escalation and WW3 but none happy to spill a drop of their own blood. If doing what you're calling for meant we all had to go into battle you wouldn't be calling for it so why should more needlessly have to die for a fight you wouldn't fight yourself? War is horrible, Putin is a 'C U Next Tuesday' for going in there but more escalation and WW3 is not the answer to this problem especially when it seems like negotiations for military withdrawal are finally proceeding positively (according to FT report anyway).

People say that til push comes to shove. I've seen the videos/ posts of frightened citizens of other countries who went to help and fight in Ukraine and are now trying to flee as the reality of the situation on the ground hit them and some can't get out now either. A whole base of them was blown up also. Terrible stuff. Not saying that'd be you in that situation but it's easy to say these things from the comfort of our homes.

I know what you're saying but it's a highly volatile situation where one wrong move literally plummets the whole world into this situation and then it wouldn't just be Russia we'd be against.

If the FT report is correct then negotiations are moving forward well and Russia are considering withdrawal and Ukraine seem to be happy to meet some of their demands so far. Let's see how it goes. I'd rather every other peaceful avenue exhausted by the politicians before deciding that we have to go to war.

I am angry at the situation and think what's happening is unacceptable.

That'll be of great comfort to the millions of people displaced in Ukraine, the thousands that have been killed and murdered and injured.
