How can it be that Russia actually committed a chemical attack on British soil and yet absolutely nothing was done about it?

No sanctions, no determination to reduce trade, just soundbites and box ticking.

Russian agents have entered the UK and murdered people and our elected Government did nothing because it's easier to turn a blind eye and line their pockets with rubles than it is to stand up for what is right.

Putin has been laughing at us for years, he thinks he can do whatever he wants because they have taught him he can.

The politicians have sold this country down the river. They should investigate them all and try them with treason.
The total lack of action on atrocities committed by the Russian state under his leadership has led to where we are now.

The sanctions imposed in the last few weeks should have happened following any one of: the Crimea debacle, the shooting down of the airliner, the continued support for separatists in eastern Ukraine, the Novichok poisonings, Litvinenko, chemical attacks in Syria.

Interesting article, not about Ukraine but a look at Putin's ongoing war against the west and the EU and his interference in British politics through manipulation and grooming voters not able to form a critical position.

A wonderful story…I wonder how it turned out for Putin when Boris was at the forefront of providing support to Ukraine and shoring up the European response… perhaps someone can now write a story about how Russia has been funding various climate groups to oppose the U.K. from fracking and oil drilling and being totally self sufficient in energy. Maybe Bori’s wife is also a Russian agent. All of these stories always come back to Remainers who still neither understand nor accept why we voted to leave….

It is a window upon Russia/Putin's strategy - for Yalta 2. Challenges for achieving this are NATO and the EO and so for the last 20 years Russia has been implementing tactics such as manipulating Brexit voters and interfering in voting to get their people into power in western democracies.

I understand that some have genuine hate for Europe and that some older Brits long for the days of empire, much as Putin does. For those that have been manipulated they would not see it, much as those in Russia falling for Putin's spin do not.

The article is essentially about the appeasement that we have witnessed in the west as a result of the tactics described above and the individuals complicit in this. Remainer or leaver, assassins using chemical weapons on UK soil is inexcusable as is invading Ukraine and murdering its civilians.

You may not care that Russia and China are looking to rip up the wests democratic model and push their autocracy globally. This extends way beyond Europe but Europe is the key and as I say, NATO and the EU are the barrier. Dividing Europe through Brexit, German reliance on energy supplies and the like are not handy coincidences, they are tactics within a wider strategy and Brexit voters have ultimately supported Russia's goals. I don't blame you or anyone else for not understanding this as it has been carefully implemented, but it is what it is.

I hope that we can agree that any individual conspiring with an enemy state against the UK should feel the full force of the law.

COYB!

You and Bruce are obsessed with Empire.…

I don’t think so, the troops came from USA, U.K., and Australia I believe…..
I believe the main forces came from Denmark, Italy, Poland, Romania, Georgia and the United Kingdom with a little help from Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States.

I think that this is the kind of example that demonstrates that even in a disputed campaign which many felt was illegitimate we can see Europe forces coming together to fight - and this was on the other side of the world, not at the heart of Europe. I have absolutely no doubt that the EU countries would and are stood together against Russia on this matter.

Nah mate the UK sent 500000000000000000000000000 troops, didn't you hear? Pete signed them off himself.
