Yipes bombing sites 15 miles from NATO territory. I know NATO doesn't want to get involved in this, but if the bombs dropped the wrong side of the border, would they still turn a blind eye to what's going on?
I don't think they'd turn a blind eye to an attack on NATO soil unless there was some real mitigating circumstances. A prepared assault would cause escalation.

However, I genuinely can't see Russian forces committing such an act. Even with unguided munitions, I can't see bombs straying the border as it's not WWII.

With their GPS, even if commercial units, and orders to not stray too close to borders, it's very unlikely that any incident will occur.

The suggestion that the EU would operate as one in any kind of conflict with Russia…..
They've shown unity with their sanctions, and as many members are part of NATO I don't see it as too unlikely they'd work together.

You're not part of it though, what do you care?

I don’t care, it was just the ludicrous suggestion that they would that amused me. Imagine a world where the USA, U.K. and Canada just stood back and minded their own business. Now tell me, as you suggested, that the EU could rein in or face down Putin and Russia….

Imagine the defence organisation of the EU - NATO - has North American members? And so far, the UK has stood back and done comparatively F.A. regarding this war :) But this is what you wanted, so I don't know why you didn't renounce the NATO participation tbh.

However, why are you in this thread, like, for real? What's the point of this question you posed? I'd understand if you contributed, or even opposed the positions of the war/Russia/Ukraine/whatever - you're here to tell us the EU sucks. Great news mate, 10/10. There's an entire thread to deal with that, Brexit as well.

There's posts before and after the one you quoted with a lot more information worthy of debate, yet the one you picked is "the EU working together". This is "davek's manlove of Martinez" levels of bizarre.

When you calm down I think you will find that it was you who raised the issue of the EU, but never mind….

Interesting article, not about Ukraine but a look at Putin's ongoing war against the west and the EU and his interference in British politics through manipulation and grooming voters not able to form a critical position.

Think the EU perspective on common defence is very conditional and subjective isn't it. There was some stuff in the the treaty of Maastricht, but written in the usual lawyer language if anyone want's to decipher feel free:

EU sanctioned defence is pretty irrelevant anyway....there is a north - south wall of NATO allies stretching from Estonia to Turkey which protects the rest of the rest of the EU members from any Russian expansion.

The only EU member states outside of that NATO wall are Finland and Sweeden.....No surprise, they want to join a proper objective defence agreement now!

How can it be that Russia actually committed a chemical attack on British soil and yet absolutely nothing was done about it?

No sanctions, no determination to reduce trade, just soundbites and box ticking.

Russian agents have entered the UK and murdered people and our elected Government did nothing because it's easier to turn a blind eye and line their pockets with rubles than it is to stand up for what is right.

Putin has been laughing at us for years, he thinks he can do whatever he wants because they have taught him he can.

The politicians have sold this country down the river. They should investigate them all and try them with treason.

Not in Europe any longer.

Do you think Spain, Greece, Portugal and Italy would be keen to support a military strike on Russia?
I think any NATO/EU country attacked will defend itself with its partners.

Poland are already rightfully ready to go, Germany will remember and France too.

Did you think that Ukraine would welcome Putin's invaders?
