How can the Russian people allow this to happen. I'm sorry, I know there's a lot of bs media and censorship in Russia but they must know. I know there will be arrests/worse in Russia but they have to do something from within the country. We are genuinely on a tipping point of ww3 and the vast majority of them are going about their daily business as if nothing's happened. It's shameful.

They do, and they get beaten up and put in jail or fined ridiculous amounts.

Plus, I linked it earlier, but if you have 20 min to watch how the war is painted by the state sponsored media, which is now the only media in Russia as everything else has been banned, you'd see why they don't. Getting fed "this is fine, it's going our way, no casualties here, just a special operation" all the time, some people don't know any better. Plus this is why their own state representatives don't call it a war - consistent with the home propaganda.

Basically saying "war" is illegal as well.

Basically saying anything against Putin is illegal.

Both options end with a beating or jailtime. The most vocal still use their voice as much as they can, but they're silenced by the vocal minority and the state. The way things are currently it's near impossible for us to see what's actually happening as well, as Russia is reverting back to USSR levels of censorship, so...

It's not shameful. They do what they can, same way that you and I do - would you say what we've done is shameful because we're not on the front line right now?

Unfortunately it is not just Russian families having rifts over this damn war. This week I got into an argument with my dad who lives in Colombia and has also been brainwashed with Putin’s propaganda :(

3rd of March. National Bulgarian Liberation Day.

We have a very vocal pro-Russian political party, which all of these are likely part of.

Tell me about it...

P.S. they threw snowballs at our current PM, as he's not a russophile. The actual PM. He didn't answer with the same, as he's not a pointless human being, at least.

Brexit Mk 2 that. Most families I know in the UK just agreed to never discuss it after a while. See the EU thread for why.
I wouldn't have discussed it if the crimes were not so grossly inhumane, as they have been. I’m not willing to tolerate any justifications to this war, even from my dad, who I truly love dearly. So I won’t be silent on this one.
