Clearly Putin needs to be removed. How can that happen though?

If Russian Oligarchs start to see their businesses suffer do they have the influence to have Putin removed?

Chemical weapons, tactical low-yield Nukes are all on the table for Putin. If he feels cornered I personally feel he will use one or both.

Thus far he’s used cluster munitions, thermobaric weapons, incendiary bombs m, he’s targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure. Nothing seems too much for this lunatic.

Terrifying!

They will need it, but they also won't just give away their land.

Honest question to you, what do you think happens if Ukraine surrenders here?

It is really difficult to say - I'd hope that we would see what we have seen in Georgia and Moldova, as in a cowed former Soviet state is left alone once it is humiliated (and provided it makes no further moves towards the West). There are much worse outcomes though, for the Ukrainians and for us.

If Ukraine were accepted into NATO it could possibly mean the other NATO members having a military presence in the region right next door to Russia. I’m not giving him an excuse here, but, are we possibly heightening tensions and could more have been done to lessen the anger? Like agreements stating that a military presence from the likes of the U.S would not be based there? I do feel that the U.S sometimes heightens tensions more than they should.

Would any form of nuke dropped on Ukraine mean the West has to react with force? I would assume so but you know way more about this stuff than I do.

I don’t think that’s for us to decide though, we have messed up so many times on regime changes in other countries. We have done a lot of damage in places like the middle-east.

Ukraine was never actually close to joining NATO though. They only started asking to join after Russia invaded them in 2014 and the war started in the Donbass, however NATO has a rule against countries joining who have ongoing conflicts/disputed regions. The whole idea that this war is about NATO expansion is mostly false.

If Ukraine was ever accepted to NATO then yes, NATO soldiers would be stationed there. Keep in mind though NATO already has soldiers in the Baltics.

Yes I agree with you.

I'm just trying to imagine a way in which this could end with the least amount of deaths.

Agree, but I do think we have to be careful when encroaching into areas that could antagonize situations. Sometimes certain members of NATO, could handle things a little better.

A nuclear or chemical escalation would require NATO to very quickly re-think its strategy and could possibly draw them into direct conflict with Russia.

I can’t give you a definitive answer but it would mean a total re-think from NATO.

If Putin opts to go go the nuke route then it’s a serious own goal for him as the prevailing wind is west to east so Rostov would be subject to significant radiation.

I think the next escalatory step for Putin would be a chemical weapon rather than a nuke - the horror of which will be too much for the west to stand by and watch.

Unless Ukraine agrees to Russia’s demands then things are gonna get uglier.
