Germany is going to be dependent on Russia. The former Warsaw pact countries in the EU have populations that support Russia. Most of Eastern Europe are politically pro putin. The EU can't really fracture on this issue. It can't play a role where it is one way or another because what will happen is member states will object and there could be Chaos. There is nothing the EU could do but sanction Russia if they attacked Ukraine.

The EU has 450 million people, Russia has 140million. The EU has more arms and more planes than Russia. France will do nothing. Germany is doing nothing, Spain and Italy will do nothing, the east is being protected by both British and even Canadian troops. What is the point of the EU……

No we can’t and we shouldn‘t. But the fact that our troops are there, even in minuscule numbers, is a deterrent. Personally I would withdraw all UK military from Europe, have nothing to do with them, and just get on with our own lives ….

Talking numbers is disingenuous. Firstly only numbers that matter is fighting age males in practical terms. Take for example Netherlands. They have 18 Million population. 3 Million are fighting age men. 2.5 when you really cut down the non hackers. 1 Million at best if you talk about realism.

You think they'd sacrifice their next generation to fight a war they have no hope of winning. No chance. If push comes to shove they would put forward a token force of 100 thousand max.

China is the dominant force in world politics now. This will become very clear in the next couple of years. Russia is subordinate now to China. Russia China and Iran are military allys in all but name only. Also china are millitary allies with North Korea pretty much in all but name. Very interesting alliance could seriously be formed there. Uk would be wise to stay away from America I agree.
 
I am in Ukraine. The bulk of the people who want an outright war with Russia are Neo nazis. Not media nazis what people call racists. Actual Nazis that carry SS battle flags. They want to fight the last world war to avenge the 'chief' AH. . Total nonsense. Keep that in mind please.
 
As I said, this is for Europe. They can do whatever they wish and live with the consequences. The USA will see how they behave and adapt accordingly. We in the U.K. are secure in our own defence….

Of course you know. Germany has been under the thumb of Russia since the moment Merkel was appointed. Every action, such as the recent closing of their nuclear power plants , has been geared to their reliance upon Russian energy. And now they forbid U.K. RAF planes flying over Germany and forbid the export licenses for kit from Lithuania…
