I like your thinking on this. If Russia can only contact the west through their lower level ministers it’ll really boil Putin’s pee.

Currently it comes across to me that a few world leaders are trying to be the ones to broker a peace deal, it’s not in the hands of Macron that’s for sure. I only see Israel and China as the real peacemakers here.

Not even Israel. China owes the world after Covid to do something decent, this could be an easy win for them…..

He will cause major damage, obviously to Ukraine and it’s people, also to the West financially, but if we don’t do it now, he will try it on again, so it has to be now. i always wanted Russia to be a part of the ‘West’, and they could easily have been, but Putin has now removed that possibility for yet another generation….

Putin is in power due to him moving Yeltsin out the way and then theres the whole Nicholas the 2nd thing.

And we in the west are far softer than his people if things get harder in the economy.

India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Brazil all either neutral or leaning in Putin’s direction; even the Israelis haven’t gotten involved except as mediation. Stop reading the papers here and look at what is being said elsewhere.

If Putin dies or somehow loses power in Russia, there will be another dictator in line to take over. That's the Russian DNA. They are against modernization and democracy has never really existed in the entire Russian history except for a stint of few years. Russia's identity comes from being the antithesis of everything the Western civilization has fought for and strives for, so don't expect a "free Russia" from all this.
