I see everyone cheering all the economic sanctions and credit facilities leaving Russia etc etc.. is anyone concerned that there will be massive inflation, even bigger unemployment and potentially starvation for millions of Russians now?

Yes of course. The same way the lack of wheat exports will affect Egypt, Syria and the poor Yemeni people who are already suffering. The same way increased energy prices (already massively hiked up) will affect the poorest people in the UK and push them into poverty/starvation.

People all over the world will be affected, but you can guarantee one thing. The rich wont suffer at all, its the working class and the poorer people who will take the burden

Whats the answer though?

This is an insane article. Led the world ffs. It’s not a surprise that someone like Hannan would right this but it’s disgusting that it got published.

He forgot to mention that all those people who were going to food banks were only doing so to make Boris look bad.

Can we all just rise up, eat the rich, and then renounce modern society before living in harmony with the land?

That will be horrible, but I am not sure how much of that is going to happen. Russia and China appear to be cooperating to a considerable degree and although I am sure there will be some pain for millions of Russians (which they will be told is the West's fault) I worry that these sanctions may not be as effective in changing policy as we need them to be.

Food is clearly a potential weapon (alongside oil and has), and that is why we need to start overproducing and letting our citizens know of the danger ahead; waking up one morning to be told this is going to result in widespread panic.

I mean there is a good possibility here the Russia/China bloc is going to say to many places around the world that if they back away from the West, if they support their local strong-man then they will get some food or fertilizer.

Never said they won't affect all russians mate, but they will only really hurt the common man - same story the world over.

I also don't think Putin give two Fuchs about them either, he knew they were coming as we threatened him with then for weeks and he still invaded and declared war - he's taking the piss out of the entire world.
It will be indeed hurt the common people in Russia and that’s very unfortunate, because many Russians like Ukrainians are victims in a war they didn’t choose and don’t deserve the devastation this conflict is causing. But in my opinion this sanctions hopefully also squeeze more than ever the billionaires and the oligarchs, and hopefully it will have some sort of consequences for Putin, one would hope??Because the man is a madman, he would get us all killed and he wouldn’t care. He really has nothing to lose anymore by carrying forward with his evil plan, he know if he stops now he will be going to prison and be on trial at The Hague, so what he is going to choose is to fight this war until the end. The man has no reverse gear, once he moves forward with his plans there is no way back.

So no-one will trust Putin in future?

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Donald Trump. Quite possibly the biggest traitor in US history.
Indeed. Even if some here on the forum like to claim he was a strong leader and that’s why Putin never dared to do anything while he was in power. The truth is that he was Poo-tin’s puppet, he is a traitor and hopefully will be going to prison soon.

I don't think they're on the brink of a famine. Iran had a a lesser economy and lost its oil exports (even more strict sanctions) yet they managed somehow. Plus, if it ever came to that we would send food, civilized as we are.

It's just our politicians telling our people we're doing our very best so we feel better. A bit of an exaggeration always helps with that.

Ukraine on the other hand, without access to the sea and with the east and probably cut off from the west in the near future, IS in a very acute humanitarian danger.
