I'd be shocked if he actually has been executed.

I know they're in a period of martial law and any treason or dissent will need dealing with, but they can't alienate the west and slip into Putin's ways.

A fair trial and execution of a person committing treason in a time of war I could understand; a drumhead trial and summary execution there and then, nah.

Not sure how you give a traitor a "fair trial" when he evades attempts to detain him?

This cannot be true, surely. It breaks every Law in warfare, and would just increase the fury of the Ukrainian resistance.

EDIT: sorry, just read some of the responses - I mistakenly presumed the RUSSIANS had arrested the Ukrainian delegate. Apologies.

You miss the point. If he's tried to flee or use a weapon against those arresting him, well to use that slightly tedious saying - it is what it is.

If they have been able to arrest him and then summary executed him, which the term in the OP would suggest, it's very different. Drumhead trials aren't right!
