There is a communist past in Russia. Just as there is in China. China officially has communist tag still.

Both countries are nationalist. China is more national socialist in a way and Russia probably would be politically close to fascism but less intense as 1935 Germany.

You have no idea what you're talking about calling Russia left wing. Uk is far more closer to Communism (it's not) than Russia is today.
