Oleksiy Arestovych
Dear friends!
TREACHEROUS the enemy's plan is next: They will try to carry out a very serious information operation today related to the defeat of material objects, they will try to collapse the network, cyber attacks and physical impact on communication towers. And then, when there is a vacuum and panic, throw away the information that we supposedly surrendered everything, our delegation at the negotiations surrendered everything, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not shoot, retreat and surrender, sovereignty is handed over, Donbass and half of Ukraine and other nonsense that we give up we cannot assume until the end.

Know this - AINT NOBODY GIVING UP ANYTHING. The President is determined to fight to the end. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are very calm and carefully do their job. Allies are with us. Moreover, now at 16:30, the European Parliament will vote for an accelerated procedure of Ukraine's accession to the EU, and for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country in the EU. Which in itself radically changes the strategic situation around Ukraine in the direction of its improvement. No “betrayal” can come close. Our delegation at the consultations in Belarus is led by the Minister of Defense Alexey Reznikov, known for his tough position.
Do not believe, whatever convincing information comes, whatever documents they show you (they fabricate them), whatever statements they sound - DO NOT BELIEVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. No one will give up anything!

Not sure it’s impossible obviously it would be hard

He’d need to install a new regime and retain an army in the east at least (he has to now anyway as he has recognised Donbas and Lughansk)

From there if the new regime wasn’t slaughtering people in the streets for no reason he might be able to turn it into Belarus mk2

Like I say unlikely but not totally improbable

Todays reaffirmation of NATO’s red lines for interference may embolden him

Ukraine has gone. There is no way Putin can hold onto this country. There comes a time when the people have decided enough is enough, and that time is now…..

This really. Ukraine is now so anti-Russia that the genie will never be put back in the bottle. Putin has made a complete arse of this, he assumes that military strength of 200,000 can overcome a determined country of 44Million supported by the USA, U.K., EU… He may even win, short time, but knows that eventually Ukraine will kick his arse out of the country……Putin is toast….
That's what they said about Grozny & Chechnya before he absolutely destroyed them. Probably the ''hardest men on the planet'', totally demoralised them with his bombs & now under firm Russian control.

If I were Zelensky, I would probably try for peacetalks. NATO-membership will always be problematic even without the invasion, EU-membership is attainable in the future. Being neutral isn't all that bad (ask Finland). Sometimes you have to let go of what should & concentrate on what can be done.

Getting the impression that, at least in the EU, there is now a high level assumption that if Putin takes Ukraine it is only going to be a matter of time before one of the Nato countries gets invaded so might as well try to bring him down now with everything short of military engagement.

TBF I am not sure that “bring him down” is right, but they do need time to rearm and improve the state of European defences and there isn’t much time left.

They’ve basically got to be visibly and obviously capable of defeating the Russians by themselves by 2024, in order to have a deterrent effect on Putin. Trump will (if he runs and wins) probably leave NATO or at best won’t be reliable, so it’s got to be doable by themselves. They’ve also got to sort out influencing operations in Europe, which is going to be really difficult.

I can officially say that's not true. Emotions run high but is basically political postering.
NATO has slapped some EU-members on the wrist because of provocative statements and deliveries of jets. Cant believe I write this but the USA is actually the adult here.
The economic sanctions aren't political posturing, they are absolutely brutal.

Lot of the rhetoric today for me has been about it being Putin's Ukraine now... It's gone!

I think, realistically, with Russia's resources, Putin's general disregard for the lives of his own population and the fact that he feels he will look a complete fool in front of his country (even though he already does) means this particular stage of this conflict is a matter of when not if. But he won't be able to hold it, and the long term consequences of this madness will be the end of him

Why would it?

There would have to be a first strike by one side for that to happen, therefore you're saying that the idea of MAD is false.
The first strike could well be first strike doctrine - empty your arsenal to prevent as devastating a response.

The idea that we’d somehow survive a nuclear exchange unless we were in Africa is crazy

I’m fact youd probably not want to survive
