Wow. Ukrainian tennis player who beat Federer in 2013 Wimbledon will be up in arms soon for his country ??

Stakhovsky, who reached a career singles high ranking of 31 in the world and won four ATP tour titles, said: "Of course I would fight, it's the only reason I'm trying to get back.

"I signed up for the reserves last week. I don't have military experience but I do have experience with a gun privately.

"My dad and brother are surgeons, they are stressed out, but I speak to them frequently - they sleep in the basement".

He urges people around Europe to protest against the Russian invasion wherever and however they can.

Good reads. The similar discussion in this side of the pond is that regarding the atomic bomb. Interestingly, Truman seems to catch a lot less flak than your wartime leadership gets over Dresden.

This differential can be explained away through means other than racism, but that requires a cultural argument which at least slouches towards racism.
Dresden and the two atomic bombings have always grabbed all the headlines. So much so that until I read Malcolm Gladwell's book about it last year, I had no idea that the most catastrophic bombing of the war actually took place in Tokyo thanks to napalm (effectively a superweapon when deployed on wooden Japanese buildings) and a strong wind. Apparently that night accounted for the highest number of deaths in the shortest span of time in human history.

He thought he would have had a quicker surrender. He probably doesnt want to destroy the infrastructure of the country either.

He was wrong, although he still seems to be ready for talks, which will never be accepted.

God help the people of Ukraine, if he decides to show his actual military hand via artillery and troops.

I wish there was an easy way out.
He has opened Pandora's box and this will be the end of his regime, in my opinion, and feel that this will turn into something worse than their Vietnam if they don't retract, which Putin won't.

If it escalates further and the images of their troops killing their Ukrainian cousins (women too) filter through there will be even more outrage in Russia. Same for their troops on the ground - things are bad but not as bad as they could be and some of their troops are seemingly already questioning what they are doing there. In many respects it feels akin to English troops invading Scotland and killing innocent Scots!

The intel about potential false flag incidents in Russia will definitely be a tactic that Putin will be considering if he is losing his propaganda war, especially when coupled with the economic catastrophe that all Russians will feel as a result of this invasion. Let us hope that the work of hackers can continue to disrupt the Putin spin.

Putin has totally misjudged this one.
