You can count the number of times I agree with Kev on the fingers of no hands, but he's clearly right here. This is a war that's been, say, a year in the making, so Russia will be prepared to tolerate stuff that makes them go "Ow! That smarts". Conceivably, an accumulation of many smarting measures over a long time might make them think , or if one of the measures turns out to be more painful than anyone thought, but I don't imagine there's any short term effective sanction solution.
I don’t think they would have imagined such a response as they are seeing. Every aspect of their existence as a country is being targeted. It’s wonderful to witness the pushback

I dont think its a matter of number of losses, its a matter of them getting involved in protests (which could have happened already).

Once that has happened it is a very difficult problem for the government to deal with, as its a thing that literally everyone in the world can understand and sympathise with.

Yeah but im thinking that if theres protests in one City, would other Cities in Russia be aware of it?

Maybe, but I am susprised if thats the case - they've spent years islotaing themselves from the outside world and building as much self sufficiency as possible, while cracking down massively on internal dissent, while being condemned internationally

Surely they would have recognised the hostile invasion of a neighbouring country would have upped the ante.

I think most people expected Russia to be rampant in Ukraine and this to have been over my now with the Russian flag hoisted.

But it seems as though they werent prepared for the Ukrainian fight.

I doubt theyve prepared for $500billion to be frozen. I also doubt they expected SWIFT and trade to be removed.

Wow. Need more of this in more cities but these are very brave people

Russia should be one of the leading lights of the world. Instead it's under the heel of a tyrannical despot. We need to support the Russian people who protest the Ukrainian invasion.

Offer the oligarchs access to their assets in a one off amnesty if they abandon Putin before strong money laundering laws ate put in place. Hold the military leaders to account for any atrocities against civilians. Put together a plan for reacceptance of Russia and how it can thrive without recrimination if they throw Putin out of power.

Remove the head snake and put in the conditions that mean such snakes will not thrive again.

The west needs to fight with the Ukrainian and Russian people together against Putin.

I never said anything about people who don’t protest. You on the other hand put your comment like a mobsters veiled threat. “ I hope they are ready for labour camps”
Must say it's been laughable hearing much of our Westminster Government cheering Russian civilian protests against its Government invaision action in Ukraine, while it sets about dismantling our rights to peaceful protest here in the UK. Don't be under any other impression our current UK Government likes aspects of the Putin regime...

Im comparing Russia with China when i look at the proposed sanctions.

In China when they cant pull money out or make transfers they go straight to the bank.

They tend to fight as well @Martin Alvito when someone touches their money.

In Asia its about what you can see and touch which is why property assets are most popular.

Your money is withheld...good luck to whoever doesnt pay.

Yes, it’s not that closed a society

Gotcha ;)

You can’t self-suffiency blanket flight bans and trade freeze, I mean, you just can’t. The whole world has turned against them, even their allies to an large extent
My fear is that there is no get out for the poot, he must as well go all in.
