IMO we'll see oil out of the Gulf shut down completely and that'll be that.

Just a matter of time before this gets real for us. Then the social media cheerleaders for this war will be marginalised.

I said back in September when this LR use was discussed in washington by the lunatic Biden and his lap dog Starmer that Ild expect terrorist attacks of some nature. I think that's likely too. I wouldn't be staying too long in any city centre for the foreseeable.

Russia are using the cover of a Chinese registered ship to cut cables in the Baltic. Their subs are probably in the seas around Ireland doing the same thing.

It's kicking off now. Expect this war to start effecting all our lives soon enough.

Thanks chief. The situation is incredibly complex. It’s clear that many leaders, both from the West and Russia, have made decisions that have led to significant harm and loss of life. The idea of accountability is important but I’d suggest that we should use history as a guide to raise standards, not lower them. Whataboutery is a sure fire way to repeat the same mistakes.

Sadly, as many western leaders have come to understand the only way to stop this repeated behaviour from Putin and Russia is through strength and defeat, not appeasement.

It's not whataboutary though. I have personal experience now of what's happening to Russian speaking people in some European nations. I know that the same people who were all for the Iraq war are the same ones that are insistent on carrying on this war. I know that they're also the same ones dead set on helping Israel do what they're doing in Palestine (and again, there's a lot of grey area in that as there is with every situation).

We aren't going to defeat Russia. And unless you have personal experience of the Russian attitude I'm not sure people get it either.

This is a nation that lost 10s of millions of people in WW2. They're deeply patriotic. That doesn't all mean they support Putin or their invasion of Ukraine, but it does have to be taken into account too.

Plus you can easily flip it. Why should the U.S., UK and the rest of the west get away with repeated strongarming and invasions too. The only way a Russian might see stopping that is through 'strength and defeat'.

Ultimately, the blame lies with Putin for invading. But the tale of it being 'unprovoked' is also largely a complete fabrication.

You can be 100% sure that all the families of the men serving in the Ukraine military were punching the air when Trump won that election.

They've had enough. They've paid the price. They've borne the brunt of the human misery. Those that have kids of military age are shoving them across borders to avoid this.

It will be over soon. Thank goodness. As much as some want this to go on forever so they can get a buzz out of the war 'games'. it WILL be over shortly.

And when it's over the Ukrainians will be able to choose their next political leaders and scores will be settled...and I'd imagine scores will be settled in other less civil ways too. That's all to come.

As much as I loathe the fella. He will at least offer some strength against China, Ukraine? Not so sure. He will be asking their supporters for lots in return; that will put pressure on NATO representatives and that is exactly what Vlad would like thank you very much.

Indeed, the new world order he wants is for the west and its democratic 'rules based' system toppled and the rise of autocratic leaders free to do as they please. This will also need to see a challenge to remove the dollar as the world currency. Fiat is on its last legs but he wants a Russia China dominant exchange mechanism. He is fairly open about these things.

This is all about trying to aid a 'better' negotiating position when the deal is cut early in 2025.

The Ukrainians are sunk...the only thing to determine now is just how sunk they'll be at the end of it.

Zelensky has got about 6 months left before the axe comes down on him. He's done for on an individual level. I suspect he knows it too.
