I’ve said this before and I’m not really trying to get involved in the row , I’ll also caveat it by saying I’m definitely pro Ukraine and anti Putin . However when it comes to nazi’s Ukraine is the only country I’ve been to where there were a lot of open nazi’s wandering about . I don’t mean like these EDL cosplaying scumbags I mean groups of blokes with swastika tatts and flags who were openly espousing the rhetoric .
What the causes were is way above my pay grade and as is happens , virulent fascism aside , they were ok to talk to but there was a lot of them them in Kharkiv and Kiev when I was there .
It’s a disease. But it exists in a lot of places and not simply confined to a single nation. I take your point though about Ukraine, it was openly acceptable back then.
However they have and are making steps to crack down on it. Although to eradicate a mindset and ideology will take generations to achieve, look at sectarianism in Northern Ireland. But it’s hardly an excuse to invade a country and bring death and destruction to a sovereign nation.
The final irony is that Russia itself has openly visible neo-nazi groups fighting for it on their side.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was and is simply a land grab.
