It's hardly appeasement to acknowledge that you've lost close to a generation of young Ukrainians and trying further to reach your aims will only lead to the deaths of more.

Giving into Russian demands is apeasment.. A demilitarised Ukraine is easy pickings in the future be it 10.. 20 years time.

In the interests of clarity are you saying countries joining NATO whether willingly or under pressure of whatever political meddling or carrot waving coming from the western powers is the same as Russia sending an army over the border into another country?

The option is do that now or do that in the future, Ukrainians have lived under moscows thumb in the past if that was so wonderful then they wouldn't be putting up such resistance.
I'd love to know what you think a future would look like if Ukraine just handed over lands demilitarised and signed an agreement not to join NATO and Russia agreed to stop hostility..
I genuinely believe that within 10-15 years we'd be having this exact same conversation again.

I'd agree that this is what should happen but right now Russia won't agree to any protection for what remains of Ukraine, they wanted it all and they aren't going to get that now because Ukraine faught back, because lives were lost, because Ukraine got help.. Russia is now an empire and empires historically have to expand or they crumble, Russia has invaded and annexed parts of multiple countries in living memory it's expantionist and it has to be stopped.

Reports are now suggesting the F-16s supplied to Ukraine are practically useless. They're no threat at all to Russian jets and it looks like they wont be in action again in this conflict.

The west have handed Kyiv a load of hooky gear.
