I'd agree with this, the coming winter will determine Russias future, if the Ukrainian strikes on oil facilities mean Russia has to slow production and stop pumping then Russia will basically become a 3rd world country, with no chance of ever climbing back up without western aid and the removal of sanctions..

I wouldn't think he's got free reign to express independent taught.. I don't think he's going to say something like that unless it's been passed by the government.. Hopefully Putin will soon Resign, die of natural causes or die of "natural causes", and best case scenario is the Russian elite pull out of Ukraine and blame the whole thing on Putin.

I doubt that it is, or at least it’s been shorn of the context around it. What he was probably saying was akin to what Amery famously said in his speech that ended with the Cromwell quote.
