I remember reading something about someone asking their parents or grandparents about the war. It might even have been on GOT.

It wasn't about keeping on fighting because we thought we'd beat the Germans in the second world war that mattered, it was about keeping on fighting even though you knew you would lose if you didn't.

That's what Ukraine is doing now. If they don't keep fighting, they will be forgotten and gone. I honestly don't think that they have any chance of driving Russia out as it is, but who knows if internal events or the economy stop Russia then it might be seen in time as the right option to keep on going.
WW2 UK and Ukraine aren't really the best comparison. The Germans at the time of the Battle of Britain had more than enough troops and armaments to invade all of the island and the manpower to police the population during an occupation plus many in the ruling classes were sympathetic to the German cause. Russia however have not and never has had an army large enough to invade never mind occupy a country the size of Ukraine. Don't take my word for it,there's plenty of US military intel online to check with.
This gives s early overview.

You appear to be suffering from the same educational difficulties as another previous poster. A ceasefire followed by a political solution is not surrender. If you feel so strongly about the war carrying on to a possible tragic conclusion for both Ukraine Russia and the wider world the Ukrainian Legion is desperate for volunteers. It's your chance to walk the walk rather than virtue flag waving.
As Russia is both the aggressor and has acted immorally, surely the political solution should be to yield back all occupied Ukrainian territory since the invasion and pay reparations. This is something we all, including you, could support, yes?

It's not realistic though is it. The New York Times article showed were they stood two years ago and although it's a newspaper piece they may be able to work something out. As the reports are fairly consistent that Russia are inching forward on all fronts it could be prudent for Ukraine to look at a compromise. As they appeared to be open to one when they were militarily in a far better position.

As an avid supporter of Ukraine, this would be the ideal solution, but in reality the chance of this ever happening is slim to none; we have to be realistic.

Like I've mentioned before, the final outcome will be palatable at best, for all parties, rather than the ideal solution we will want, or even what Russia wants.

For all Russia's losses, which continue to mount, they still have the economic might, political will and sheer numbers of people to let them keep grinding on.

I was chatting to a friend about how Russia are using T62s and T54, and well mock. But, this is all old reserves or surplus, so can they afford to lose it?

We ended up coming to the conclusion that they're, wittingly or unwittingly, using this ol' rubbish to bludgeon, clear minefields and deplete UA AT munitions.

Unless the West really up the ante in terms of military and fiscal support, Ukraine cannot and will not create an advantage that will allow them to rout the RA.

We will end up at a stalemate, and they will all have to come to the table, regardless of how sour the taste may be.

Let’s just say hypothetically, not realistically. So to repeat:

I'd support it obviously. Is Putin ever going to do it?
Do you honestly believe it would ever happen?

but pack yer bags and volunteer for the front line, maybe sign Begum up whilst yer at it... after all, its your duty.

ffs.
Thought you were a part of the fight to the last man (as long as it isn't me) brigade. You appear to want the war to carry on no matter what it costs in casualties. Maybe try walking the walk yourself?
