I can see why you stick up for Kenwright now.So who is going to win? And what will be the eventual cost? If a ceasefire was called today Ukraine has lost an area that is predominantly ethnic Russian that has been a pain in the rear for them for over a decade. But still it's easy to wave the flag for a continuation of a war when you're never going to be involved personally. Slava Ukraine![]()

It's unfortunate that your skills of comprehension are so poor. Nowhere did I "stick up" for Kenwright only highlighted the bad taste in insulting the dead. If a poster wants to hurl insults at someone who even in life was highly unlikely to read them that's their choice but you have to admit it pretty funny.I can see why you stick up for Kenwright now.
And yet not one clip of a missile strike, just a discussion of a New York Times article. Maybe get Mummy to watch it and explain it to you? Get your hand ready in your sock I'm sure you'll find something on X within the next few hours that'll give you your daily fix.War porn

If the New York Times article is accurate it would appear they were talking seriously and sadly if there is a political solution within the next few months it could very well look fairly similar to the deal being discussed at the time which will make all the subsequent death and destruction even more tragic (if that's possible)Said this before many times on here, but what happened at those talks and why they collapsed really needs to be clarified.
I mean, 99% of the people on this thread agree that Johnson was a morally corrupt idiot that ruined everything he touched and he left this country holding one of the biggest bags of odorous excrement ever assembled in the history of British government* and yet him going there right before those talks collapsed was a mere coincidence. If you look at his previous links to Russia - the financing, ennobling Lebedev, whatever happened on that weekend away in Perugia, Putin welcoming his win in 2019 etc - then his role is potentially even more sinister.

You appear to be suffering from the same educational difficulties as another previous poster. A ceasefire followed by a political solution is not surrender. If you feel so strongly about the war carrying on to a possible tragic conclusion for both Ukraine Russia and the wider world the Ukrainian Legion is desperate for volunteers. It's your chance to walk the walk rather than virtue flag waving. It's exactly as easy to wave the flag for a surrender to invaders where you're never going to suffer personally from the ensuing 'peace'.
This is why my position is that Ukraine itself decides whether it's worth fighting, which is a far larger and complex question that something a couple of lads in their foreign legion can fill you in on - we're talking about the 'fighting spirit' of a nation and its people and there are numerous examples throughout history when that both was and wasn't enough in the face of a larger and more powerful aggressor.
Sometimes, nations will lose the initial conflict and yet the spirit of resisitance continues on and the yoke is thrown off years or even generations later. There may be examples of this inside the British Isles if one cares to look closely.
So, I don't know who'll win and I don't pretend to have an inside track on it. I'm not interested in the hot takes of various 'expert' youtube channels on either side - channels that are more concerned with viewer engagement than accuracy and aren't held to any journalistic standards of reporting. It's thoroughly depressing how social media has impacted everything today even including war, with remote observers around the world cheerleading invading autocratic powers via algorithm and convincing themselves of their own righteousness because of a claimed desire to see peace and the end to a loss of life. What they actually mean is the end to hearing about the loss of life on the battlefield, when instead it can become hidden behind martial law, secret police and all the other state tools an occupying force has at their disposal.
So spare me any future attempts at sitting on the moral high ground. Before posting, take a look in the mirror whilst thinking about what you're actually advocating, and try to put a number on how many unknown people's lives and livelihoods need to be destroyed for your own personal comfort.

I remember reading something about someone asking their parents or grandparents about the war.
