While I don’t like the guy, to be fair we were told he was going to start WWIII. He didn’t. In fact it was kind of peaceful for an American President. He still makes me feel ill though.

I can’t hide the fact that I am disappointed with Biden and right now he and Harris look totally incompetent. This is supposed to be the leader of the free world! Whatever the hell that means. Instead it’s “we will see what these sanctions do in about a month”, meanwhile people are dying. Sorry not going to hide my disgust.

They are, but they’ve got a clear reason why it would be happening and amongst the people there is overwhelming support for Ukraine across Europe.

Whilst the energy dispute is seen as their contribution to the fight vs Putin (as a consequence of effective sanctions) people here and in Europe will accept it. As we saw with COVID here it’s probably only the elites cheating that would break that solidarity, which sadly is possible.

Let's hope so however I have a feeling that the "freedom" lot would not be happy at being incovenienced by support for anyone but themselves.
They want freedom to be selfish.

Absolutely, but it will cripple Russia too.

Maybe, just maybe, the people of Europe will be prepared to endure the pain if it results in fascism once again being driven from Europe.

They do, but even they took months to appear over COVID and I think there is a reluctance even there to back Putin - unlike in the US they don’t have cover here from the media or a mainstream political party (yet - I mean let’s face it we all know which government is going to get caught out and then have it’s media tell us all that it’s time to get back to business).

It’s well reported that he’s stashed away billions in preparation for sanctions. Will it be enough, perhaps not if their economy starts to break up due to the removal from SWIFT.

The long term concern is that they’ll now move to the Chinese alternative, but that’s an issue to be worried about later on.

China will bum him on trade and utility deals as they know he’s got nowhere else to go

Citizens there have been left with no choice but defending themselves against Putin’s tyranny. But he totally underestimated the passion Ukrainians have shown to defend their country.
