Make Ukraines president into a living legend.

Pretty much unite the world in their support of Ukraine.

Kill hundreds, possibly thousands, of his own troops.

Lose his pals billions upon billions.

Bring his currency to it’s lowest value in god knows how long.

Totally out himself as a modern day Stalin (for those who doubted it before).

Made himself appear pretty unhinged.

Brought thousands of his own people onto the streets protesting his actions even knowing the risk to themselves from his police.

On another note, I think there is a general understimation here of how restricted politcal life is in Russia - the idea that someone will just 'topple' Putin is nonsense.

Its more or less Stalinist levels now.

Hard to say, though I have to believe there are some interesting discussions currently taking place among some top government and military officials

Perhaps.
Given how badly this is going, this might be seen as the perfect time for someone younger to try to seize control. Certainly wouldn’t be without historical precedent but of course pure conjecture

Sounds like a lot of Russian people are speaking out now, especially famous ones. Whether it will have any effect or put pressure on Putin remains to be seen but the message is getting louder
