That’s the issue. If they sign a deal it won’t be adhered to and everyone knows it. At least not until there’s a pro-Russian government installed in Kiev.

I recall listening to a podcast a while back and one of the contributors said the issue is Ukraine means more to Russia than it ever will to the west. They won’t let up.

If China were involved in any peace process I'd image they have the leverage to make Russia adhere to an agreement.

All the vultures are circling. Black Rock/Vanguard I'm sure as well as China,France etc will all do very well out of the rebuilding of Ukrainian infrastructure.

And yet oddly at the moment Zelensky is probably Russia's ace card in the propaganda war. His profile in Ukraine continues to fall by the month. Maybe this "assassination attempt" will help raise his ratings.

I've been "back" for a while. Still looking at the propaganda pumped out by both sides and trying to work out what is believable and what is fantasy. Other outlets state the "potential assassins" are Ukrainian Army officers trying to save the lives of untrained young conscripts being forced to go straight to the front lines. Doubt we'll ever know the truth of either.

As long as he's there in charge, Ukraine ain't going to the table for a deal and they'll keep resisting. However, assassination is a risky option as it's more likely to make the Ukrainians dig their heals in harder, but if the situation keeps worsening like it has these past few months, then that could change rapidly if things deteriorate on the front line.

We have the luxury of being able to view from a safe distance. There are quite a few Ukrainian refugees in the Spanish town where I live,the ones I've chatted with just want peace. They don't appear to be arsed about Zelensky,Crimea or the Donbass. Unfortunately I've a feeling this thread will still be getting posts in the 27/28 season.
