Pete we have a nuclear capability, but the Russians would have to be barking mad to put us in a situation where we'd use it. Still the best explanation of this is here:

I'd have thought someone who knew this would have known it, to be honest.

Nice try, but it was you who mentioned a tactical nuke. It’s either a nuke or it isn’t. So remove that element, now exactly how the hell do they invade an island with nuclear weapons, a well equipped Air Force, and every technical defence detection mechanism available. In your own time…how do they land troops here, they can to a degree, but they would soon disappear off the planet….

We do not - at least publicly - possess tactical nuclear weapons any more.

That means our response to a use of a tactical nuclear weapon can only be either strategic nuclear weapons (which means an exchange of strategic nuclear weapons, which means the end) or conventional strikes. We don't have much of an ability to do conventional strikes on Russia itself either, at least to the point of deterrence.

So once again - if we are in a position where there is no NATO, and no help likely from the EU, then if the government hasn't folded at that point then we would likely see some form of attack of that kind. The Government would give in at that point, the bluff would have been called.

Sorry mate, and I normally enjoy your posts, but sometimes it’s best to put the keyboard down…no offence but there is no way Russia could invade the U.K. and Russia knows it……

They've probably just threatened him with blocking Twitter unless he takes action against unfriendly accounts, and so (as that fearsome champion of freedom of speech has done repeatedly when threatened) he rolled over and did what they asked.
I "suspect" that the minerals that his Tesla and SpaceX ventures need will be front of mind in at least trying to keep on good terms with resource rich Russia.

But as you say, it makes a mokery of his spin about free speech.
