Changes to include use of commercial recruitment firms to carry out more targeted conscription, say officials

Basically, the Ukrainian Government have seen their attempt to snatch people off the street to force into the armed forces increase the flight from Ukraine of fighting age men, so they're hiring commercial recruitment organisations to persuade them they won't necessarily be placed on the front line and could be deployed elsewhere.

Sounds like they're selling them the sizzle to me like.

My take is that they're industrial scale trawls to throw into the meat grinder.

That's a separate issue to the Ukrainian Government and their shanghaiing of young men and sending them to the front line.

If I was a Ukrainian of fighting age I'd look at that crook Zelensky and GTF over the border. Imagine dying for that clown's ego.

I'm not sure I understand the difference

Both sides seem to be throwing a generation to the slaughter?

Can you expand on the error Ukraine is making that Russia are avoiding?

When both sides are snatching men off the streets to toss into the mincer, the winner can only be the side with the greater population.

We’re getting close to the point now where we’ve got to manoeuvre the Ukrainians into the least evil negotiating position, because the longer we wait the worse their hand is going to be barring some huge unforeseen turnaround.

Putin’s policy of waiting out the West looks a winner, sadly, as was always likely. With calls for the head of Zaluzhny coming from some of Zelenskyy’s people, I think we’re reaching crunch time. The Hungarian veto, German budget hole, and American fatigue are combining in a perfect storm to Putin’s benefit. Dark days.

Exactly this.

Zelensky will see civil war before he gives in to a democratic vote or a peace deal.

His removal is a matter of urgency or the Ukrainians will see 200,000 dead become 300,000 dead.
