Agreed - they’ve got countless mobiks to throw in, but they’re running out of heavy equipment. There were reports yesterday of them using trucks from the 1930’s to Carry assault units into battle.

It’s becoming a Turkey shoot for the defending Ukranians.
Turkey shoots happen on both sides. The failed counter offensive began with tens of thousands of Ukrainians being sent to their deaths needlessly.

Surely, at some point, someone says no within Russia? That's nuts. A mid sized UK city of people thrown to the mill, constantly.

And I think they learnt a lot from those early experiences, they changed tactics significantly and adopted a bite & hold approach.

Take a little ground, fortify it and wait for the inevitable Ru counter-attacks then chew them up. Rinse and repeat. Slow going but effective if you need to conserve men and equipment.

Ukraine adapted, unlike the Russians who see the troops as meat to be slaughtered and just endlessly persist with throwing more and more of their troops into the grinder, almost like the old cold-war Soviet warfare doctrine.

Early doors of the Uke counter-offensive Ru deployed the Surovkin approach of defence in depth. Concede ground slowly and in a controlled fashion whilst inflicting mass casualties on the enemy, however after they booted him out following the Wagner coup they now use the Gerasimov approach of active defence which means counter-attacking previously lost ground at every opportunity.

This approach is simply playing into Ukraines hand and is extremely costly for Ru in the form of lost troops and equipment.

They should never have gotten rid of Surovkin - he’s the only one of them who had a clue about how to fight a war.

You would think so - but hey it’s Russia. They mainly recruit mobiks from the far eastern areas. These places are poor and the people there have no voice. But eventually they will need to recruit more from the affluent areas of Moscow, St Pete’s, Rostov etc. That’s when people are gonna start sqwarking

What do you make of @ramacca s point about the casualties thus far being mostly Wagner, Chechens and Donbass militia men...

Well we know for sure that the RuAF VDV took mass casualties at Hostomel and in Irpin.

A number of front-line Ru units have been declared combat ineffective. Especially those who were based in the Kharkiv oblast that was liberated last November. The 1st and 4th Guards tank armies were malleted as well as 2nd Guards MRD and the 11th army corps got mauled.

During the siege of Bakhmut it was mainly Wagner , criminal z-storm units and DNR units that were used. Now however Regular RuAF are on the front-line along with VDV units. If reports are to be believed the VDV units have sustained mass casualties south of Bakhmut. Kadyrov’s Chechens are not proper soldiers and invariably run away from battle at the first opportunity.

As for Adviikda we have seen the RuAF 25CAA being used as meat assault units and they have / are being chopped up.

So in summary I’d say that @ramacca needs to do a little more research.

Never realised I had Chechen blood in me

You lie down with dogs you come up with fleas.

The cardinal sin of world affairs is to chummy up to an apartheid regime like Israel.

Zelensky has mired Ukraine now in the filth of the Israeli state. That won't ever be forgotten by people who support downtrodden people throughout the world.

Zelensky made a huge error and it'll drain good will for the Ukrainian cause for the rest of this conflict.

And in the US it's led to the rolling into one of the two causes of protecting the Israeli apartheid state and supporting Ukraine for the purposes of trying to force a huge aid package through Congress by Biden.

Israel and Ukraine are bonded.

It's been a calamitous two weeks or so for the Ukrainian people. Let down by their corrupt leaders once again.

Or, it was a very smart move by Zelensky. A few on here had been banging the drum that the USA may pull the plug on Ukraine if the Republicans got in. Well now the Americans have intrinsically linked the two countries together. The USA of whatever colour would never give up on Israel so there you have it with support for Ukraine linked…..

This was February:

"U.K. Ministry of Defense said approximately 40,000 to 60,000 Russians had likely been killed in the war. A leaked assessment from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency put the number of Russians killed in action in the first year of the war at 35,000 to 43,000."

By all accounts Wagner lost about 20,000 men in Ukraine.

I suppose in proportion to their numbers the claim that non-Russian Army fighters have taken the brunt of casualties holds water in that respect.

Not Ukraine specific but insight into Russia under Putin.

Republicans wont wear that. They'll demand a separation on those packages.
