I’d say he knows as much about undersea sabotage and who did Nordstream as anyone who posts on this site. He’s a journo with half a story ffs. He has evidence from an anonymous source!!! In other words a bloke down the pub told him.

Stop trying to deflect. The subject matter was the Finnish-Estonian undersea comms cable cut. This has nothing to do with Nordstream
He has can army of fact finders and sources.

Pretty much his whole "story" was proven false by OSINT, but hey, lets not let facts get in the way of you pushing Russian propaganda.
This is the Bellingcat lot...

Would you say they have an especially objective reputation when it comes to Russia...

You're about a millimetre from saying "fake news".

You either accept he's collected and presented a series of compelling details about the explosion and - on the balance of things - believe him to have arrived at the truth or you don't.

There's not always a smoking g gun. Our judicial system, for example, doesn't require it.

I see, such an easy thing to shout once proven wrong.

IT WAS THE CIA mate.
No, you're the one denying the validity of a report compiled by one of the best journalists in the world and accepting in its place a dossier compiled by a load of tits on twitter.

Armchair analytics

Known as "OSINT" (open-source intelligence), Bellingcat's method of journalism collects data from publicly available sources to piece together, debunk or verify a story. In October 2013, the Google Ideas think tank came up with a catchier label: "Armchair Analytics".

Indeed, when Higgins began raking through citizen journalism coming out of Syria over six years ago, he was doing so from his sofa.

And there were many other amateurs online using similar methods. They meet and talk in Facebook groups, subreddits and threads of direct messages on Twitter, discussing new tools and techniques and working with any changes to social networks that might help or hinder their work.

An 86 year old man or many people who analysed the FREELY available data he used in this story and proved it mostly hogwash.

Its a tough 1 Dave.

Also, where do you think this fella wrote his story? I can assure you he did it at home in his armchair, not at the bottom of the ocean looking at the pipeline.

He has a an army of researchers at his disposal. He writes for the New York Times not the right wing blogosphere.

There's a difference. Don let them dumb you down.

Only 1 person being dumbed down here.

Educated people, like myself, well we use a number of sources.

The majority of intelligence networks in the world didnt find a smoking gun pointing to anybody, but Uncle Albert over here should defo be trusted cos he wrote a few stories about the Vietnam War, *checks notes, over 50 years ago.

TBF goat I always saw you as a clued up lad. I still do. But dismissing a reporter like Hersh has blotted your copy book.

He seems a good sort Dave and im sure he was a very good investigative journalist in his prime.

But as I say, he made a series of claims that were proven to be utter hogwash based on the analysis of freely available data regarding the paths in which certain ships and planes took, which contradicted most of what he claimed.

But its funny you should mention the CIA.

And now I know why you are eager for him to be considered a good source.

In an April 2023 article on Substack, Hersh alleged that figures in the Ukrainian government of Volodymyr Zelensky had embezzled at least $400 million of U.S. aid to the country, intended for the purchase of diesel fuel, by buying discount diesel from Russia, citing an alleged analysis produced by the CIA.
