Amazing isn;t it that a reversal in the war against Russia brings forward a lot of articles now in the MSM which suddenly remember how 'kin rancid the Polish 'allies' regime is in the governance of its own country. A bigoted right wing party like Law and Justice would be like having the BNP ruling this country.
Even read in the Guardian that the Russians had taken more territory than Ukraine had regained which would have been unimaginable even a few weeks ago. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/oct/05/biden-us-strategy-russia-ukraine-war

Seeing as that links through to the New York Times, it appears that there is a weakening in support playing out on both sides of the Atlantic.

The mood music is starting to change with regards to supporting Ukraine. Critical times ahead.

In short: they've started to desert them in shameful fashion...using the excuse of needing to restock their own weapons capability.

Zelensky has run up air miles than Richard Branson in the last fortnight racing everywhere trying to shore up support.

It was always going to happen.

I said on this forum a few weeks back that once the US election cycle kicks in this will be a hot potato - with the Republicans showing they haven't gone soft on wasting US tax dollars and the Democrats trying to throttle back support to avoid like they're not neglecting 'the homeland' and its own issues like border control and the economy.

The UK coat-tail the yanks and the Tories have lost interest - looking to preserve their own necks.

Other eastern European regimes have remembered that they all hate each other and have massive cultural differences with Ukraine.

Putin yesterday said that europe will throw in its hand soon as it simply can’t afford to carry on. We can see that with the open fractures being brought about in Slovakia, Hungary and even Poland.

The issue he says is with the US who can just carry on printing money to fund their support.
People said at the start of this.. Ukraine would be given enough arms so as not to loose but not enough arms to win... Regardless of the outcome now, it's possible that other countries no longer see Russia as a military threat given the huge equipment and man power losses Russia have taken, and so are slowing down support for Ukraine... I do still think that Russia will end up with what was controlled before the invasion and it will be formally recognized as such..

Might too be worth paying attention to China to see if they're getting closer to requiring a western response that would remove the ability to support Ukraine.

you mean Crimea on its own and they will withdraw from everywhere else?

it all adds up to only one thing Dave. And it wont please the cold war warriors here.

This war ends only at a time and on the terms of Russias choosing.

It's looking like it if - as seems to be the case - their backers are all going quietly missing.
