Also if Russia accept total independence now to the point they accept requests from an independent state for armed support, then they won’t recognise limited autonomy for them

It may be more in-line with the UK with field hospitals manned by reservist/civil doctors, which in periods of intense combat get mobilised.

208 Field Hospital (Belle Vale) were called up a few time when Afghanistan got heavy. It may be precautionary or it may be a sign things aren't going well.
