From the UN Security Council

The UN security council voted on a resolution deploring Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Eleven member states voted for the resolution, three abstained (China, India, and UAE) and one voted against (Russia). As Russia holds a veto the resolution was not upheld.

But the US and its allies will see it as a victory to have Russia voting alone, and China abstaining. They were able to bring China on board by softening the resolution slightly, changing the word ‘condemning’ to ‘deploring’ for example and removing a reference to the Russian president. It is a loss however not to persuade India or UAE off the fence.

China and India have strong ties with Russia, while UAE is as bad as London for oligarchs and their money.

It seems as if Kyiv will suffer serious aerial and artillery bombardment. There’s strong hopes the city will be regained, but at a cost.
Cheers. But I was asking about Lviv, big city in the west. I know the real and crucial fight is in Kyiv, naturally, but what's going on in the western Ukraine in the mean time?

Sorry, I misread your post. From most accounts, not as much as other cities but there’s likely a reason for that - it still contains many foreign embassies.

Ternopil and Rivne will likely be the key targets in the west of Ukraine if the Russians want to isolate the country and control the transport network.

Great news China abstained.

Having you here is so calming mate. Thanks for the good work.

Hugely important that the West works hard to bring India closer in the future - it's a shame to see them abstain.
