From 2007 to 2013, Belton worked at the Financial Times as the newspaper's Moscow correspondent, having previously written about Russian current affairs for both The Moscow Times and Business Week. She was also in 2016 the legal correspondent. In 2009, the British Press Awards shortlisted Belton for the Business journalist of the year award.[2]
Belton was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2023 New Year Honours for services to journalism.
She seems like somebody we should take notice of.

Im always thankful and amazed that there’s a couple of people in here who’s knowledge and experience transcends any actual so-called experts who have spent years and years living and working in the very country they write about. Imagine thinking vast connections and experience and things like diplomas and eduction and work on the ground living in and amongst the people over years can be simply waved aside by some incredible intellects straight out of mensa or somewhere. I’m also fascinated to see how Russia was a real upstanding beacon of no criminality before us in the West really corrupted it with our evil ways.
I can really see why they would just attack Ukraine as theyre really fighting America and the UK as the last beacon of the fight against Nazi’s and Globalist Pizza Chains and Evil Clothing Brands we created to destroy the World.

I was finishing school around the time the Berlin Wall fell and studying German. The collapse of empires became something of a fascination. I studied ballet as a child and read lots of books about Anna Pavlova and the Mariinsky theatre so I also had this fascination with Russia. When I was deciding what I wanted to do after school, I considered studying either German and Japanese or German and Russian. Ultimately it depended on the prosaic matter of which country I’d saved up enough money to go to. So I flew to Moscow in December 1991 at New Year, right at the fall of the Soviet Union. It was just an incredible time, exhilarating, a completely new world. It was the first time people were allowed on Red Square to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. I went on to study in Krasnoyarsk, which had only been open to foreigners for a few years, and we were treated with such hospitality. After graduating, I worked for an English language newspaper in Moscow and became addicted to covering Russian news, but I had a general fear I didn’t fully understand what I was writing about, so I came back to the UK to study for an MA in Russian politics.
