Zelensky due to meet Lula on Wednesday.

That'll be an interesting meeting and obvioulsy Zelensky will be asking the Brazillians to stop any invitation to Putin to visit. But ultimately I cant see it bearing fruit for Ukraine in terms of bringing the BRICS on board. They are determined to walk a middle line in all of this.

Wang Yi in Moscow too. Could be laying the basis for a Putin visit to China soon.

It's all still very polarised, so that's disappointing as far as a peace deal is concerned.

Why Ukraine insist on attacking Russian forces instead of taking a defensive posture at some geographically protected line is impossible to understand. Its simply not rational.
If anyone fancies burgling Kev, rest assured he will make a defensive wall with pillows at the top of the stairs leaving you to take his tele and corsa.

Hold on. that's not exactly a new thing though is it.

Remember the UK forcing a budget rebate over the common agricultural policy.

The Polish Government are fighting for their political lives.
They are breaking the rules they signed up to. Yes, it's very British.

And why would the EU allow a neo-fascist political party in Poland - which openly undermines the EU - to save their political skins at cost to the fair running of the EU's single market and the reputation of the EU as one of the world's great trading blocs?

Until the EU develops a mechanism to bring these cuckoos to heel, there will be no expansion. That's very bad news for the Ukrainians this Polish government claim to support - only when it suits them, mind.

That's a recipe to reverse EU extension that's been made in eastern Europe. Poland and Hungary are very difficult to bring under their wing and will be for decades...it's why Ukrainian ambitions to join the EU will founder for years to come too.

I think you have to knock the idea of a peace deal on the head Dave. Nice idea but the reason the polarization has occurred is because the west are simply doubling down on the situation.

Europeans can freeze, Europeans can starve, and the ruling classes will be just fine. Americans can be buggered by inflation, but the 1% won’t care.

Indeed. For all the soft and welcoming words of ambitious politicians who will not be around to deal with the consequences of an unreformed expansion, the reality is there will be no new joiners this decade at the very least. The cuckoos will have to be dealt with first. When they are, then the merit-based approach to membership can be implemented.

There is a line that they will stop and defend from.. Tokmak.... If and when they reach this town it's over.. Russia knows this and are setting up major defences there.. reason being that rail and road that Russians are using to supply their troops comes within artillery range from Tokmak. Currently it's 16km from the front..

I think it's fragmenting a bit though. Politically speaking. You can see that in Europe and it wont be long until the US elections kick in and we'll see a possible changing of the guard there. It looks bleak right now but all things change.
