He is deffo on a wind up but like others before, it is a strange hill to chose to die on.

At least @davek is trying to spin the Trump line and avoiding direct endorsement for rape and murder.
Excuse me, you've inverted this somewhat haven't you?

I'm the one who wants a cessation of all hostilities and a peace deal to be struck and all casualties to be halted; you're the one who wants the destruction to continue.

How do you get it arse before elbow?

‘The MoD produced a strategy aimed at improving the way that it engages with industry and allies almost two years ago and yet we have been told it will take at least a decade to replenish (and then increase to a sustainable level) UK ammunition stockpiles.’

Yep, you can’t just do it overnight, but there is no context for “dangerously low levels” and they talk about “replenishing stockpiles” but to what level?
To your point though, it should be generally accepted that they are lower than we might like given the support committed to Ukraine.

Both the USA and U.K. have put their manufacturing into overdrive. An 8 fold increase in the case of the U.K….Russia is now screwed as they neither have the capacity nor economy to do similar, hence the talks with NK, a minnow with no money…..,

Talks with n Korea were doing the n Koreans a trade favour and probably to keep the Chinese onside as well.

Nothing to do with them running out of weapons. Utter fantasy.

Oh and I’m sure the Russians are quaking in their boots at the thought of our 25k squaddies rocking up at the front line 😂😂

You really do miss the point don’t you. NK is just after cheap stuff from Russia while selling crap arms to them, but it’s still a very small country. Meanwhile NATO is ten times bigger than Russia. Yes you can point to any individual country and say not very big, but the same can be said with all of the regions of Russia. Meanwhile that 10x figure doesn’t go away. Russia is finished, the image of it as a ‘super power’ is well and truly laughed at, its a regional power getting its arse kicked in Ukraine, one step at a time…..

🤷‍♂️

Apart from an outlier or two the polls seem to think it'll be a coin toss for Trump v Biden right now.

TBF that is more because of the uselessness of the rest of the GOP field. DeSantis could have walked this, and when the field narrows I think Pence (if he is still standing) could pose far more of a threat to Trump than is realised.

The base will never vote in a general election for someone like Pence. The Democrats would have a clear run through to the Whitehouse.

It's Trump's ticket if he's still able to run. I doubt there's a chance for anyone else. I know it's early days yet, but the structural factors aren't going to change.

This is the great fallacy that Trump relies on - my base (40-50% of the GOP electorate) will never vote for anyone other than me, so the rest of you have to back me or you'll never win.

At some point the 40-60% remaining of the GOP electorate will realise that works both ways, especially given that they get treated with contempt by his base, lose out when it comes to positions in state and federal elections and are seen only as sources of money. Sooner rather than later they will call him (and his base) on it and will probably win.

Of the 2024 candidates, Pence is the best placed to be the figurehead of those people.

This is from the NY Times and underlines why Trump will be almost impossible to shift in the primaries short of sitting in a prison cell:

Basically he'll get (maybe grudging) support from those who are not fanatical about him because they share his and his supporters views on policy. Only a quarter of Republicans are completely against him.

It would take a huge turnaround in fortunes for Trump not to be on the Republican ticket come the general election.

Don’t forget it’s a gas station with nukes, running out of weapons next Tuesday, using dishwasher chips to fix military equipment. Putin dying of cancer. Digging trenches with shovels. Running out of food. Putin is dead. Running out of fuel. Owned by China.

Anything else I’ve forgotten?

Nukes are somewhat irrelevant. The USA and Russia have thousands each ,ergo end of planet. The likes of the U.K., France and China only have a few hundred each, but if attacked by Russia means the end of Moscow, St Petersburg etc etc. no doubt some in the far east may still be around, but pure Russians like the rest of us will be toast…China will then take over what remains of Russia and the world will move on without Putin, the Kremlin or whoever. Meanwhile in the real non nuclear war world,Russia is getting its arse kicked by a country a quarter of its size, slowly I’ll grant you, but nonetheless steadily. Meanwhile Russia is hiding behind its mines and tank traps while Ukraine moves forward. Have you not twigged that it’s Russia behind the defences, a Russia that cannot move forward and one that will be pushed further back every day…anyway life is too short to try and explain this to you….
