Yes, there is that strain in Ukrainian society. However, as with everwhere else, the vast majority of people of all nations just want peace and prosperity.

I suppose being overrun and murdered by Germans, then having 4 million starved to death by Putin, suffering under the yoke of the Soviet Union and then seeing resources plundered by Oligarchs, before Putin invaded, destroyed villages and cities and murdering civilians in their thousands, might make you think like that……

Most of the 'elite' Russian forces are now dead. What they have now is a rag tag drug addicts, criminals and old men. NATO would walk over Russia in a matter of days. I don't want it to be hapeen but they would. The idea of Russia being an elite force is now long gone.

The only way to a quick peace deal now is for Russia to mount a counter offensive itself and underline to the west that this is a war that the Ukrainians cant win and to force Kyiv to the negotiating table.

Short of that then we're into a long drawn out stalemate with tens more thousands being killed.

Reading between the lines of the Blinken visit: 2 scenarios..

1/ the yanks are concerned at the pace of the counter-offensive and are looking to hand ultimatums to Kyiv

2/ the yanks were behind the dismissal of the Ukrainian defence minister and want to takeover control of the counter offensive and the Washington puppet Umerov's appointment as defence minister is the clue to that

IMO it suits the US more. Harms Russia’s military effectiveness, constricts their economy, US get so sell more LPG etc, US military complex has huge upturn in revenue, the conflict is a bargaining chip with China.
Suspect the US is more concerned with harming Russian interests than protecting Ukrainian and always have been.

Doesn’t mean it’s not just to aid Ukraine in its Defence but it does make me question if any of it needed to happen at all.
