There's footage out there, which reportedly shows the contact.

What's coming out from across the front is that, due to dense minefields and lack of mine clearing equipment, Ukraine is being forced into dense, cleared routes.

Due to the nature of the battlefield/terrain, there's going to be examples like this: bunched up tactical column until a break through. They'll take loses too.

We here in the west have to some extent being spoilt (if that's the correct term?): Ukraine lack the air superiority, cruise missiles and training we've had.

So, this was never going to be the fast, sweeping victories like experienced in the Gulf and elsewhere; this was never going to be a quick, bloodless victory.

What we've got to hope is that the UKA quickly learn their lesson and make the suitable tactical adaptations. If they break through the line, it'll be smoother.

It's not nice to see equipment being lost, but it's the nature of war. Some will be recovered and put back into service, but if not, it’s all about sustainability.

Let's not get stuck on losing one tank and a few IFV, regardless of how precious they are, compared to the sheer number of losses the Russians have faced.
Anyway, I sobered up and you're right. You were right then, but I don't get to have a cheap shot at myself that way.

When innocent people are dying daily there is no moral high ground. Even less so if they want the killing to carry on.

No guarantees that the suffering would stop even if Russia got what it wanted. The people they'd put in place to keep it that way wouldn't be holding back on their own war crimes.

And the US and UK weren't criminals when invading Iraqi using a similar preposterous excuse? Putin is obviously a war criminal, but then why not Bush and Blair?

Until some action is taken against those involved in the invasion of Iraq? International law should be the same for all.No?

If Blair and Bush had approved flattening entire towns and cities, constantly bombed non military targets and blew up dams causing a humanitarian and ecological disaster, then I think you'll find that they would have ended up in The Hague.

There's plenty of evidence that civilians were bombed, remember Shock and Awe over Baghdad? Over the past few weeks Australia's most decorated soldier has been found guilty of war crimes all be it in civil court. Sadly all armies attract those who would play out their fantasies as teaching attracts some who's only interest is access to children. Bush and Blair were never going to see the inside of a court because the winners write the history and the western propaganda machine did a great job of making Muslims the enemy.
Find it very odd that some posters on this forum quite rightly are outraged by the situation in Ukraine but are silent on Guantanamo Bay were innocent men have been held without trial and tortured for over two decades.

The shock and awe pre-invasion bombing campaign was made using laser guided missles. How many of those do you think Russia have used? Now I'm not saying none of these didn't have some collateral damage, that unfortunately happens and you get the odd rogue solider who commits offences, what your falling here to see is scale of the atrocities which might as well be another planet they are so different.

This from the New York Times
It's odd that as something like 45% of the Donbass where the front line is,is ethnic Russian,it could be fair to suggest that a high percentage of civilian deaths are therefore Russian. I keep coming back to the leaked American intelligence documents that state that their military experts believe that the Ukraine or Russia can not win and that the war is destined to be a long drawn out stalemate,so at some point talks must take place. So for those cowering in bomb shelters sooner is better.

Power play from Shoigu. He knows that Prigozihn will never give up full control of Wagner to Russian defence ministry and therefore he can classify him as a criminal and have him arrested.
That’s what I was thinking: there’ll be those who comply, get arrested or not so miraculously fall from a window at great height.

I think the Kremlin are concerned about how a large paramilitary organisation may be used if the war continues to not go so well.

How this pans out will be interesting. I can't see Wagner, or those at the top, being willing to cooperate.

Yeah, it definitely looks like a play by Putin to set up a fight with Wagner they know is coming. I think they see the danger in the one competent fighting force being not under their control, and little left of their army. It may be that Putin sees it approaching the tipping point of him losing control, and Wagner is the force most likely to do it, so hes either got to take them out soon or its over for him.
