Really? Then why last year did he finally decide to do something about it. Why did he not want it 5 years ago or 10 years ago or 15 years ago? What was he waiting for? Please tell us the answers to these questions.

1996 Russia invades Chechnya

1999 Russia invades Chechnya again

2008 Russia invades Georgia

2014 Russia invades Crimea

2022 Russia invades Ukraine

I sense a pattern here

Yes, perhaps, although that's a different argument to the question I was asking which is the idea that it's all due to Putin 'being mad'. Clearly he is not. What I find strange about it all is that normally, the press and the public are forever asking questions and searching for answers about why something is being done - we never simply assume the person is mad and that's the end of it (like Bush and Blair in Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11).

It's hard to separate what is fact and what is propaganda in this war because there is so much of it. There's a lot going on though with this war that doesn't pass the smell test. Nordstream pipeline blown up, ICC charging Putin, a world leader, with war crimes, other countries publicly and brazenly arming an enemy. This seems much more personal. We're being lied to again.

Everything you hear from Russia is propaganda, and that is a fact…..hope this helps…..

The troll factory is working overtime tonight.

The big problem with that is that there really isn't much effort being seen to be made about dialogue and diplomacy. There really is a big problem for us (the West) in terms of the lack of engagement with him specifically, and the wider issues this conflict is causing generally - its been a massive problem from the beginning of this crisis.

Putin almost certainly won't listen, and we shouldn't expect that he will, but we should do it if for no other reason than to show we have tried. Then we can start using our abilities (reducing energy dependence, helping with local food production (and reducing dependence on Russian supplies), debt relief, military supplies etc) to help get the support of a lot of the rest of the world.
