Much more dense than other usual projectiles. DU is used both for ordnance as well as plate shielding. For ammo, more punch, more penetration.I’m ignorant as to the reason for using depleted uranium, could somebody enlighten me?

Got it, thanks. Is it still radioactive?Much more dense than other usual projectiles. DU is used both for ordnance as well as plate shielding. For ammo, more punch, more penetration.
Very slightly. Also has toxicity associated with it.Got it, thanks. Is it still radioactive?
It effectively means that the U.K. supplied Challys with DU rounds will be able to kill high-end Russian tanks from ranges approaching 5KM with a single shot.I’m ignorant as to the reason for using depleted uranium, could somebody enlighten me?
Is it just propaganda that they caused birth defects etc in Iraq (genuine question, are the wider negative effects overstated)?Very slightly. Also has toxicity associated with it.
They will be prohibited from use eventually. Given Russian and Chinese nuclear programmes, you'd think they have them. I read in the Guardian that Russia have allegedly used them in Ukraine - how true that is, I don't know. As soon as there is any chance they could use them against the western countries (who have certainly already used them) then it would be a time to mutually agree to get rid or limit their use.
It's a good question. I think it's probably very difficult to tease out DU as the sole cause of the impact to people's health. I think eventually that they'll be removed from service and they'll be eventually forgotten about before anyone has to answer this very awkward question. Is it just propaganda that they caused birth defects etc in Iraq (genuine question, are the wider negative effects overstated)?
If there's a chance it does that sort of thing, its not the issue of using them against Russians, its the issue of using it on Ukrainian soil surely? that's the land and anyone in the area that would get poisoned on top of any Russia has used?
