Agree on the show of force thing. Moldova is not a NATO member so would have to provide its own air defence. I think they were shouting about air defence systems back in January - not sure if they got any though.

Due to the frozen conflict in Transnistra would NATO even go into Moldova? It would create a precedent for going into Ukraine I imagine.
Only guarding Romanian airspace would narrow that corridor in half and help to not spread Ukrainian defence so thinly which would make it worthwhile.
NATO would not get actively involved on The defence of Moldova but they would track and monitor the situation. Romania is different as it’s NATO they would actively shoot down any missile or ward off any hostile AC overflight.

The issue with Moldova is the fact its armed forces are absolutely underfunded and use old soviet stuff. I’d like to think post war (Ukrainian victory) that a fund is set up to fully modernise country’s like Moldova in every way possible.

I would think doing it now would be better. What's it going to do at worse? Aggrieve Russia? Like that could happen anymore.
A well set up Moldova will prevent what is happening in Ukraine happening there if Russia decides to push on if (and it seems unlikely if) Ukraine falls.

No I agree I’d love it to happen now. I’ve visited chisinău a few times and it is a poor but wonderful little country. I just hope Ukraine has a good counter offensive and wins the war in the spring.
