I saw the full unedited version and it was horrific.

Russian troops are vermin.

The fact is though that when you put troops, of any nation, into situations like this - where they are told to kill the enemy, where they see friends and comrades killed horrifically, when they are forced into situations where they themselves are in real and ongoing fear of death or serious injury - someone will do something very similar to this.

The Russians are not exceptional here; a UK serviceman (Alexander Blackman) did almost exactly the same thing and was convicted for it.

Nah. This was different. Blackman didn’t do it for fun, he simply slotted an unarmed enemy combatant out of rage and battle lust. One shot and he moved on. This was an execution done for fun - they were laughing after they emptied 2 entire mags into this guy, filmed it then published it on-line.

I can understand but not condone Blackmans behaviour given the horror of war and close combat but this one was something entirely different.

I’ll just add that Blackman lost control - these guys never - they were in total control of their actions and emotions

No, that is not what happened and there seems in your post an awful lot of an attempt to condone (or at least minimize) what Blackman actually did.

People in combat situations lose control and commit crimes. No nations armed forces could possibly say otherwise.

If you commit murder on the battlefield just like anywhere else you deserve to be tried and convicted.

This was different. They never lost control, this wasn’t battle rage - it was planned, filmed and published on-line so they could bathe in it.

I am not pro-Russian at all, I just wish people didn't fall down the rabbit holes of propaganda of whatever side and actually looked at the context and history of such things before spouting off with generalizations. It is so self-defeating and, frankly, dangerous.

In the context of what I witnessed watching the video of them executing the Ukranian soldier.

And for the last time - it wasn’t battle rage it was cold premeditated murder.

"the people who did this are vermin" would be fine, but that wasn't the distinction that was made
