I don't want to sound like Medvedev but he, and several other politicians from the Baltic States, really need to either STFU or contribute vastly more to the military power of NATO. Not openly discriminating against people of Russian descent in their countries (and carrying out popcorn actions against war memorials) would also be a step forward.

Hmmm not sure about that.

Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia all contributed troops and resources to NATO ops in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan

They are and have been since they joined NATO in the top 10 of contributors to NATO by GDP out of 30 member states.

Data I’ve seen shows that in 2021 their NATO contributions were as follows

Lithuania 2.23% of GDP
Latvia 2.27% of GDP
Estonia 2.28% of GDP

All have committed to 2.5% this year

Taken in context that in 2021 the UK’s contribution was 2.29%.

It’s BS but Putin should be under no illusion (yeah I know) China will only be on their side if it makes sense to them and they won’t have qualms about invading Russia if necessary.

He reminds me of the young wan walking through town late of a Saturday night with the boyfriend who sees a gang of thugs at the corner, hears them making insulting remarks, and turns to her fella to say: "Dja hear what they said about me? Gwan, sort 'em out!". And proceeds to get her fella battered.

His nonsense about WWII proving that "all wars do not end in negotiations" is fantastically disingenuous. It ended without negotiations only because Nazi Germany was NOT a nuclear power and was totally defeated. Russia IS a nuclear power and total defeat - as much as we would all love to see it - may very well end in a mushroom cloud.

He may not agree, but those who he expects to do the heavy lifting in supplying arms and finance quite likely do.
