Chatter in this thread about what looks like new kit for Ukraine?

Looks like the US us also supplying Ukraine with JDAM-ER glide bombs. Both options will improve Ukraine’s deep strike capability.

Like we’ve all said since this started- it’s impossible to see how this ends.
Putin is not for backing down

No offence but you have been doing a lot of mantra chanting lately.

It will be very interesting to see what is in this rumoured China peace proposal that may be announced on Friday. One might guess from all the diplomatic activity that it could be real enough for the EU to accept but not enough for the maximalists (as in a total withdrawing of Russia from everywhere including Crimea and the Donbas and reparations and sending everyone to the Hague).

If it is, it should be engaged with seriously - it might well be a trap to split NATO (and the EU) and also to blame the collective West for whatever follows, but not engaging with it would be far worse as all that would happen anyway. It would be very hard for China to walk away from talks they started, or for the Russians to sabotage said talks - and bringing in the rest of the world would be the best advert for wanting an actual multipolar world rather than one dominated by someone other than the Yanks.

It is not really mantra. Most of what I am saying about Vlad is standard belief. In this instance, he is not for backing down. ANY peace deal will have to see him appear victorious, most of that will not be pallatable for Ukraine.

Peace talks/negotiations could go on for a very, very long time.

Lets say putin sees the light and concedes, drags his units out of Ukraine fully, gives back Crimea, says he very sorry and promises to put right what he has destroyed.
Does it go back to business as usual? The gas and oil flow again and we all let bygones be bygones?
"I want russia punished but the cost of living means I'm more interested in being warm and being fed than I am in ideals of justice..."

What are we prepared to give and give up long term, where's the line drawn?
If those were the terms, the West would bend over backwards to cooperate and agree to go back to business as usual. It's a much much better than the alternative.

Former Russian president says country "will be torn to pieces" if it loses war

From CNN's Mariya Knight

Former Russian President and Deputy Chair of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said Russia will "disappear" if it loses the war in Ukraine.

“If Russia stops the special military operation without achieving victory, Russia will disappear, it will be torn to pieces,” Medvedev said in a Telegram post on Wednesday, using the euphemism for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. “If the US stops supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime, the war will end.”
Medvedev’s comments follow US President Joe Biden’s speech in Poland on Tuesday.

During his speech, Biden said, "If Russia stopped invading Ukraine, it would end the war. If Ukraine stopped defending itself against Russia, it would be the end of Ukraine," which Medvedev claimed was “a refined lie.”

“Why does he appeal to the people of another country at a time when he is full of domestic problems? With what fright should we listen to a politician from a hostile state that exudes hatred for our Motherland? Why should the citizens of Russia believe the leader of the United States, who unleashed the most wars in the 20th and 21st centuries, but reproach us for aggressiveness?” Medvedev said — repeating claims that American officials see as a whataboutism tactic — adding Biden’s aim is “to ensure that Russia suffers a "strategic defeat."

Medvedev also commented on Putin's state of the nation address on Tuesday, in particular an announcement that Russia is suspending its participation in the New START nuclear arms reduction treaty.

He called it “an overdue and inevitable decision.”

“This is a decision that will have a huge resonance in the world in general and in the United States in particular,” Medvedev added.

“After all, it is obvious to all reasonable forces that if the United States wants Russian defeat, then we are on the verge of a world conflict,” he continued. “If the United States wants to defeat Russia, then we have the right to defend ourselves with any weapon, including nuclear.”

The only way out of this is Russian Surrender, and Ukraine joining Nato. Russia would subsquently collapse and be broken up into a an Asian Europe. Autocrats cannot thrive in a modern world. Germany was the world's enemy once, Russia doesn't have to be for ever.

If anyone thinks we wouldn't accept the situation as it was right before the war started then they are deluded. If anyone thinks we'd be wrong to do that then they are insane.

Totally agree, returning to the status quo ante of 2014 would be an enormous victory for the west. It will simply not happen, obviously, but one can hope.
Tsubs-no mate
We’d accept it historically, but not now. There is no single way we return to pre-2022 status, let alone 2014
