Looks like the US us also supplying Ukraine with JDAM-ER glide bombs. Both options will improve Ukraine’s deep strike capability.

Like we’ve all said since this started- it’s impossible to see how this ends.
Putin is not for backing down
It is not really mantra. Most of what I am saying about Vlad is standard belief. In this instance, he is not for backing down. ANY peace deal will have to see him appear victorious, most of that will not be pallatable for Ukraine. No offence but you have been doing a lot of mantra chanting lately.
It will be very interesting to see what is in this rumoured China peace proposal that may be announced on Friday. One might guess from all the diplomatic activity that it could be real enough for the EU to accept but not enough for the maximalists (as in a total withdrawing of Russia from everywhere including Crimea and the Donbas and reparations and sending everyone to the Hague).
If it is, it should be engaged with seriously - it might well be a trap to split NATO (and the EU) and also to blame the collective West for whatever follows, but not engaging with it would be far worse as all that would happen anyway. It would be very hard for China to walk away from talks they started, or for the Russians to sabotage said talks - and bringing in the rest of the world would be the best advert for wanting an actual multipolar world rather than one dominated by someone other than the Yanks.
If those were the terms, the West would bend over backwards to cooperate and agree to go back to business as usual. It's a much much better than the alternative.Lets say putin sees the light and concedes, drags his units out of Ukraine fully, gives back Crimea, says he very sorry and promises to put right what he has destroyed.
Does it go back to business as usual? The gas and oil flow again and we all let bygones be bygones?
"I want russia punished but the cost of living means I'm more interested in being warm and being fed than I am in ideals of justice..."
What are we prepared to give and give up long term, where's the line drawn?
Not convinced. Sit back and watch him rebuild/arm with his oil and gas billions?? Not likely. If those were the terms, the West would bend over backwards to cooperate and agree to go back to business as usual. It's a much much better than the alternative.
If Russia pulled all of their troops out and gave back Crimea, that would open the door for Ukraine to quickly join NATO and rule out Russia ever invading again. Not convinced. Sit back and watch him rebuild/arm with his oil and gas billions?? Not likely.
Never gonna happenIf Russia pulled all of their troops out and gave back Crimea, that would open the door for Ukraine to quickly join NATO and rule out Russia ever invading again.
I never said it would, that was the scenario set out in the post I replied to; hence why I said the West would bite Russia's arm off...Never gonna happen

Totally agree, returning to the status quo ante of 2014 would be an enormous victory for the west. It will simply not happen, obviously, but one can hope.If anyone thinks we wouldn't accept the situation as it was right before the war started then they are deluded. If anyone thinks we'd be wrong to do that then they are insane.

We’d accept it historically, but not now. There is no single way we return to pre-2022 status, let alone 2014
