What seemed to be the case and was super concerning to me about this episode last night was the media band-waggoning on the premise that it was a Russian missile without the facts to hand to back it up, then Zelensky seemed to directly accuse Russia, the combination of this rhetoric, to me, seems to accelerate the whole situation to a wider conflict with absolutely catastrophic consequences.

I have come to expect nothing less of our media and the worlds media but I had expected slightly better from the Ukraine side.

In some ways, thank whoever, for the fact that there are moderate and sensible voices amongst them all, in this situation.

Of course the whole thing is on Putin in the first instance but do we really need this Hawkish language and tone adding to a very delicate situation?

Spot on mate.

I said last night Millitary Intelligence will have known from the moment they where launched , where from & who deployed them.

This could have been nipped in the bud if indeed they are Ukraine retaliative missiles very early doors , instead of fuelling a media frenzy.

But of course Putin can stop things like this happening any time he wishes.

Zelinsky heads up a country which will be systematically destroyed if it does not fully surrender to Russia. Of course he will try to widen the conflict it's in his country best interest.

And remember similar happening with commercial airliner that was shot down, smoke and mirrors started with that so wider conflict was avoided.

All that matters the West can make a few quid or look good handing over in the large part outdated weaponry for the time being. And sanctions against Russia my arse...

Only one winner and it will be Russia in the end.

There are no winners my friend.

Or it could be the Russian response to the bridge? It happened whilst the G20 is going on and Lavrov would sit there and say it without a second thought.
Doubt it. I would buy it as a deliberate provocation with a specific purpose, in the sense that Putin is perpetually limit-testing like an unruly adolescent.

Poland now admitting that the missile was in fact Ukrainian defence origin.
Just reported on Le Monde news thtead
I don't necessarily believe this, as Poland and NATO have every reason to lie, but I'm glad it's the official story whether it's true or not.

And he'll continue to push what the limits are until it's too late.

I too am "glad" it's not being directly linked to Russia. Though I don't think it's a stretch to say that it wouldn't have happened if the conflict in the east wasn't happening. What are they saying was the cause? Misfire or maloperation? To send it west is a monumental cock up by Ukraine - if NATO supplied missiles are going to be hitting NATO then very soon access to those missiles will surely dry up.

A broken missile can end up headed in any direction. Think 'Challenger disaster'. Rockets are imperfect, and if you fire enough of them one is bound to break sooner or later. The image of absolute precision that our Department of Defense projected on television during the first Persian Gulf War is not reality.

My speculation is Ukraine was trying to intercept a missile sent with a trajectory along the Polish-Ukrainian border at Lviv. You miss with your anti-air and you risk hitting ground around the border.

Nothing I've seen about the missile hit was consistent with it being faulty. The Challenger disaster was several wrong things lining up to expose a fault whilst the conditions coincided to cause a catastrophic failure at that exposed weak spot.
