such a bizarre rumour to start that - "according to intel" when everyone can just look outside their windows
It really is. The talk of the Dzerzhynskyi Division too, makes it sound like a military coup when in fact they're part of the Russian internal security forces.

It could be absolute nonsense or it could be a mountain of a mole hill - a military officer or officers arrested by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

With the level of incompetency in the Russian army and talk of widespread conscription now taking its toll, I wouldn't be surprise if there's been some arrests.

People have read it as a widespread deployment, whereas it could be a few men/women going around doing their job.

Going through town with my youngest earlier saw on 3 separate occasions guys obviously leaving for duty, volunteer or not no idea although suspect more mobilised given they where all around the 35-45yo mark, really sad to see as two had kids...

Then going past the war memorial in town saw two little girls and their mum the girls placing something each at the foot of the monument, can't help but draw a conclusionon what it meant.

That's when it could have been stopped and as you saw the Ukrainian Foreign Minster was looking at countries to guarantee a deal so it must have been seriously considered by Ukraine. Too late now it's going to go boom for us all.
Us?! You're an armchair expert sitting a few thousand miles away from any conflict telling the people of Ukraine how they should just roll over and give up. Eastern Europe is in actual danger from this and we're all on Ukraine's side, except for some fanatics in Serbia and a few small tankies communities. We don't want Russia back, thanks.

It wasn't seriously considered because it's a [Poor language removed] offer quite obviously and discussed AT LENGTH AT THE TIME, WHICH I HONESTLY CAN'T WRITE IN BIG ENOUGH CAPS FOR YOU TO SEE, AS YOU APPEAR TO BE BLIND.
I (and others) asked you - if a neighbouring country up and gets up to your capital and tells you to unconditionally surrender, demilitarise yourself and give over your weapons, on a promise of good will and "pinky promise we won't attack you now that you're defenseless" - what do you do?

Because we've seen what happens when you abide by Russian requests - they just wait a few years at most and keep attacking and keep pushing because "we own you".

Unless you're trolling on purpose - you're as bad or worse than the Trumpet supporters.

Take care. x
So you think that the Ukrainian army will kick Russia out of the Donbass and Crimea and Putin won't press the red button? I'll say the same to you, take care.

So the Ukrainian Foreign Minster was kidding and the FT was publishing nonesense? Other than Twitter where do you get your news from?

So you think it was reasonable for Ukraine to just embrace the big russian bear and give over their entire country? Because that's what Russia is asking for.

If you honestly believe that when Russian leaders, Putin or otherwise, say "we won't attack afterwards" - you're the definition of stupid, sorry.

If you honestly believe that peace is/was an option after they denied calling it what it is - uncalled for aggression (a.k.a. war) because they deemed territory that isn't theirs to be theirs - it only gets worse for you, my friend.

Also actual LOL at "BUT AMERICA DOES IT AND WE'RE ATTACKING BECAUSE AMERICA...", nah, whataboutism by world leaders, which is unbelievable but here we are; it had 0 to do with America or the UN when Russia attacked, but they probably expected what you want the Ukrainians to do - just roll over and give up. Which they didn't, and then others started helping the nation that got attacked, which is absolutely normal and has always happened in wars.

As I asked 10 times today - as you're (apparently? I dunno really) an Irishman - England declares "special operations" in Ireland tomorrow, demands you roll over and give up or they nuke you and instantly carpet bomb random locations full of kids and civilians. Do you (as a nation) go "oh, okay then, we surrender this uncalled for attack for no reason"? Or do you go "nah, not having that" and fight back?

"Special operation" btw.

The beginning reminded me of how the UK kept interfering with mainland politics before WW2 and butting in the way of the German nation, who promised they would never attack Poland.

Reckon the UK should've just rolled over and given up during WW2 as well, instead of getting allies on their side and gearing for war.

It's the logical thing to do if someone is threatening your country, apparently.

I have no words for how actually obtuse you are trying to be here. Hopefully it's on purpose.

I get them from the people that take the interviews which you read with your own two eyes, even if you can only read between lines it seems. :)

Don't see where I said it was.

it was here

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba yesterday called on Turkey to be a "guarantor" in any future deal with Russia, along with the United Nations Security Council's five permanent members – which include Russia – and Germany.
