I think you're starting off on the wrong foot here. A better starting point would be the 1846 Mexican-American War. The annexation of Texas did not recognise the Velasco treaty and therefore was an illegal incursion.

Ukraine is not a hard-line threat, rather a budding economic partner. Russia is a dictatorship rather than a religious fundamentalist state, and Special Miltary Operations incurring into a Democracy is very clear threat to the stability of the region, and therefore the World.

This is almost certainly true, in my opinion.

There is a reason Ukraine was never allowed into NATO or the EU. It's the same reason Georgia was kept out. The West does not want to have to die to protect those countries. Bitter but true.

I disagree. While it'll have terrible consequences, it opens Pandora's box and lets any nuclear able nation consider using the weapons in regional conflicts.

It undermines many of the assurances the MAD has arguably provided over the past half a century and more. Russia is posturing here, nothing else.

If they used nuclear weapons and there wasn't's a response, the world would decline very, very quickly. A response would be required and would occur.

The question is, what would it be and how severe.
