Ha yeah, the past always looks better.

I even catch myself thinking "yeah the 90s and 00s were so much better".

Yes and no, they were awful in different ways, but it's so easy to forget the crap as time flows on.
They were better, in terms of our politics.

They were also beset with their own problems. I doubt you would find too many African-Americans that were thrilled with Clinton's crime bill. We got plenty wrong, though at least we had most of the hands on the oars when we did it.

A lot of fondness for communism remains in the older generation in Slovenia too, whether that's tied up a lot with nostalgia as I expect I don't know for sure.

People in the UK seem to hark back to the good old days in Blighty too, seemingly brushing rationing etc under the carpet. Some things may have changed but for most people quality of life has never been better. In recent times anyway, the current situation with cost of living is pushing this down which is troubling to say the least.

I see there are renewed calls for Russia to be labelled a terrorist state. It met that criteria (as laid out in today's Guardian) some time ago I believe.
That is the danger of restorative nostalgia, it is a reaction to change and tends to lead to emotional populist political decision making, which as we have seen can be and is exploited by the very worst kinds in civilised society.

Think any Russian attack on its own pipeline in Swedish waters would have been easily seen by US satellites, await the footage with interest.
If either side had clear evidence of the culprit it would clearly be of use as propaganda against the side who did it.

If evidence exists I'd expect it to come out asap to weaponise opinions. Everything eventually comes to light though.

You'd have imagined that the previous footage of Ukrainian successful strikes on Russian assets being almost instantaneous that there'd have been plenty on Twitter by now.

Interesting analysis from Russia.

Moscow times has been utter garbage for forever mate, it was aimed purely at the expat market initially and since going online at the international market.

Not sure who actually even owns it now, I know that it was Dutch owned then Finnish after that and think now it's kinda got dodgy ownership to circumnavigate ownership laws in Russia.

Don't think I've ever seen it do a pro Russian story about anything that thing.

Think Uncle Uzzy had a stake in it at one point though.
