I think any rational leader takes any war of aggression on/near their borders very seriously indeed. The Finns may have conscription so that they can acclimatize everyone to the military in the event of war, but they also have only slightly over 20,000 troops under arms. This means that they get rolled like Crimea at the outset if there is a surprise attack, even by "rabble", in the absence of external help.
It's easy to forget that Ukraine increased the size of its military by quite a bit and gave them a sizable training budget after 2014. This is why they did not get blasted off the map this time.

The families and friends of the 5,916 Ukrainian civilians, including 379 children murdered by the Russian invaders might see them as a threat, as would the survivors of rapes, beatings, torture and looting.
Those figures are a best case scenario. The UN have stated that these will most likely be much lower than the actual figure of those killed.

This is what happens when you allow a ruthless dictator and his propoganda to control your country. One thing is for certain, history will not look kindly upon the actions of Putins Russia. Hopefully the right minded Russians and those who had previously felt that they had been at a comfortable distance from the horror their regime was committing will now realise that it is on their doorstep. They need a democratic revolution.

Said yesterday I don't know how big the call up is, but I'll be utterly shocked if it's just 300k. I bekieve it's much much bigger than that.
Day after the papers where issued, 8 busses left my town, each bus holds 47 so near enough 400 people, town population is 100k give or take - know personally of one father and son both being issued papers.
And that's from the Moscow region also.
Just simple math and probability suggests for me this could be closer to 1m
