Sure it’s a Norwegian low-medium altitude air defence system based on the AMRAAM AIM-120 missile usually deployed on NATO aircraft. Active Laser-guidance. Ultra modern Gucci kit. It’s usually deployed in layers of multiple launch batteries each with 6 launchers - so you can pretty much cover a massive area with an engagement range of 30-40Km.

It's an advanced and well respected short range and altitude anti-aircraft defence system, which the US use to cover key installations and infrastructure.

Importantly, it's also designed to shoot down high velocity weapons such as conventional cruise missiles, which will provide an added umbrella for Ukraine.

A lot of footage circulating of people protesting, police being attacked (chased down by women in one case) and police firing weapons into the air to disperse crowds.

I do not believe there is a place for empire at this point in time. There is too much knowledge, understanding and access to ICT to have any people/nation not free to choose its direction.

That the Russian empire has continued under the guise of the Federtion to this point is wrong inasmuch that it has simply supported a corrupt regime in the Kremlin whilst leaving the resource rich republics people, who should have prospered, on or below the bread line.

Imagine being a young family scraping a living in Siberia, young couple with young children, getting by but happy and in love and then the hubby is called by the insane taxi driver in his palace 3000 miles away to leave his young family and go and give his life, and for what?

I can well imagine this being the end of the Russian empire as it exists today and rightly so.

This scenario is currently playing aout across the Rusian empire.

IMO, no one lets Putin push the button, so if he tries he's done. I don't think that enough demand for his removal exists short of that, in light of the risks of a coup.

I also would have told you that Gorbachev wasn't going anywhere in 1991 and that you could take that one to the bank, so it's your call on how large a grain of salt you want to take that one with.

If we could get the exploding cigar in place, we probably would. Getting to Putin via vices requiring poisoning wine before it gets into the bottle, which is harder. Seeing how we failed to explode Castro via a cigar, I'm not optimistic regarding our capabilities on this one.

Most assassinations in recent Russian political history are carried out by Russians. If it happened it would almost certainly be the a continuation of this trend.

Quite the power vacuum to fill if he goes. Most of the genuine choices to take over from him are either dead or in prison, so I guess we hope and pray that another lunatic hardliner doesn’t take his place
