I'm always wary of what we're weary hearing from within the Russian officer corps as at best I suspect it's hearsay, whereas in reality it's likely UA propaganda.Just Say Nyet: Russia Faces Dissent in the Military - FPIF
Putin faces an anti-war movement within the ranks of his own military.
But in the past few days, a few separate snippets have arose of potential dissent in the officer corps, including those within Moscow, for the poor strategy.
For example, if true a Lt. Gen was captured yesterday the question is why the hell is he anywhere near that front-line to the point he could be captured.
Did he feel he needed to meet his officers at the front and if so, why? Conjecture and all that, but if there's dissent maybe he needed to impose order.
Putin will not be happy with how the war is unravelling and military officers will be the easy target for his displeasure. Are they going to sit and take it?

Tells me - if these guys are on the front-line the Russians were totally deceived and out-manoeuvred by the sheer pace of the Uke assault or there was total panic amongst the grunts and they were there trying to maintain order as they don’t really have effective Junior officer/NCO cadre’s.
The frightening thing is (For Russia). Ukraine has 3 main battle groups each the size of a standard US division.
They have one deployed in the south (Kherson Oblast) and the second was used for the Kharkiv Oblast counter-offensive. That leaves a 3rd as strategic reserve.
Might be that the Ukes will now commit this group and finish the Russians off for good.

Certainly looks like him.
A good portion of the ten thousand troops recently trained by the UK are part of this and the other divisions, so these aren't a rag-tag bunch of the public.
There's been talk of the halting advances in the east, digging in at secure defences before swinging south to try and cut off forces above Crimea.
If the Ukrainians can encircle the major Russian units, perhaps even bypassing major cities, they could wipe out enough troops to cause a general collapse.

this is the moderate position in the republician party. The GOP's "official" platform is a mix pols who's view on Ukraine is to cheer Russia to either make Biden look bad or outright Putin/Trump worship. Generally they are staying muted on the position because supporting Ukraine is popular and gas prices fell. However once they have the votes/power any financial support stops. As far as the repubs not doing something that is unpopular w/ most of the country, LOLOL. They worry more about being primaried because they were Nazi enough for their district/state than they are losing to a democrat.
All Russia really has to do is to hold on to the Donbass some of the south coast and wait for the election results to come out in their favor.
Ukraine is generally standing strong thanks to US weaponry. However its not going to be around forever, and trust me switching sides in 2025 is a real possiblity. And lets face it, Ukraine becoming a part of Russia affects Europeans a lot more than it does us. Biden at the very least gave Western Europe time to ramp up spending, get the factories ramped up and get a contingency plan in place and yet Europe is still blind to the fact that US support will always be there.

There might be some that are not happy with Russia/China gunning to remove the USA as a/the global power. The Manchurian Candidate seems to be in Putins back pocket and if he or his acolytes get back in, the worry for the USA is a situation in which they become a puppet state for Russia.
