Possible but

A/ I don’t think Ukraine will settle for the terms of option 4.

B/ If reports are correct Ukraine is already hoovering up territory in Luhansk and Donetsk that they lost back in 2014.

The Russians look in complete disarray and everyone seems to be bugging out back to the motherland.

I am not sure about complete disarray - they could be, but they could also very well not be. Also if Pushilin is fleeing, I am not sure he'd go to Russia - one would think he'd be the first one up against the wall for this, if that is what has happened.

One Million percent - Crimea is regarded as Russian soil LL, the fact that my wife's mother's generation and older remember it before it was ever part of Ukraine and was Russia proper.

In reality Krushchov himself Ukranian gave it in 54 as a gift to mark a historic anniversary date, back when Ukraine and Russia where the USSR it had very little consequence doing so ofc.

Hence also why it had around 80+% ethnic Russian population.
It is one thing though to regard it as your soil - it is quite another to accept being sent there to potentially die for it, especially if equipment/conditions are poor and the overall impact it would have on the economy.

Guess we’ll see.

TBF I'd be amazed if Ukraine got western support to take Crimea back, that really would cross a red line.

Thsts you not understanding the Russian nature though LL, no offence meant.

Full conscription to go fight to take land even if it's sold as to 'protect' ethic Russians is one thing.

Russian soil and defending it is completely another. And Crimea is regarded by every single Russian I know as Russian soil.

Even when part of an independant Ukraine it was still the home of the Russian navy. When annexed it was done so bloodlessly.

None taken, it isn’t an area I claim much knowledge of! Just surprised that is all.

I'd also say that the pressure to have launched these offensives now and to continue them will be absolutely huge from Ukraine's backers.

Economically Russia has weathered the sanctions with very little real life impact (can say that first hand) however Europe and the rest of the west have been hit way harder by the impact of their own actions economically, with winter coming soon, I'm guessing not many European leaders are wanting anything other than a quick resolution before the full economic difficulties hit.

Trying to think of an analogy...

Say 60 years ago the leader of the UK decided to cede Newcastle to Scotland, and 40 years afterwards Scotland gained independence, jokes about horse punchers aside would the English take it back.

Edit - more like England transferring the entire North east from Barrow to Sunderland, Durham Newcastle etc all to Scotland really.

there is the reasons why he did it too - I mean, if it was to settle a long-standing row that would be one thing, but to do so to avoid whataboutery when denouncing his former boss is something else
